Does anyone know how to remove the tray (with rubber bottom) on top of the dashboard on the XLT models? I haven't tried yet, afraid I might brake some tabs or something off if I just yank on it.
If you mean pulling the rubber thingy out, yeah, just get a butterknife or somthing under it and it flops right out. To remove the tray itself, you pull off the radio surround, open the ashtray, pull away from the bottom, 8 strong white clips, that like to scratch things, protect the dash area with a towel drapped on the passenger side, after you pry the surround out, you hang it over to the passenger side. You don't have to pull loose any of the wires. Two 7mm bolts hold in the tray. You lift the tray out and there is LOTs of space under it to mount things like remote controls, express modules, etc.

Are you kidding me?It is all I can do anymore to drive without incident. If I had a TV mounted there I would probably either fall asleep or have an accident or both. These trucks ride sooo smooth, it is just about like being at home in an easy chair!Good Luck!
I was thinking of modding it to hold a flip up TV or a navi system in the dash.
I have a left over 7 inch LCD that I wasn't using and thought about putting it there, but the tray is not quite wide enough. So I put my monitor just under there, in a dual din mount above my stereo. Pop out. Push it back in when you aren't watching a DVD or backing up. And no, I have never watched while driving.
I am not a complete idiot. I don't even watch from the passenger side, where you could tip it away from the driver. Even the edge of the screen would be too much for a driver.
Oh, yeah, it's also against the law about everywhere.
