Drink cup holder upgrade

You know…some times it’s the cheap and easy projects that provide the most satisfaction. I just completed my drink cup holder upgrade, replacing the early 2000 model that was better known for throwing your drink while turning then holding your drink with the newer style with the side arms. I purchased the new holder from FTE supporter partsguyed.com for a good price and installation took only 10 minutes. I know it’s a small and simple upgrade but it’s so GREAT being able to use my drink holder again.

I just skipped the stock cup holder all together... I just bought one of those cheap 10 dollar jobs from good ol Wally World... I screwed it down the the floor, and haven't been happier...

When I had my old 2000 model F250, I just changed it out with the newer models as they are much better than that soft rubber holding junk.

Go to partsguyed.com pick the year/make/model the choose instrument panel/instrument panel/cup holder. You will then have 5 interior colors to choose from. Denim Blue, Graphite, Medium Flint, Parchment, Prairie Tan. I emailed Ed to confirm my color choice (Parchment or Prairie Tan) matched my year. I’ll take a few pictures and post later tonight. Here's a link www.partsguyed.com

Here's some photo's of the old/new drink cup holder.

The old drink cup holder that throws drinks as you corner it also has a broken flip-up thing and missing the springs.

You remove the ash tray and remove the four 7mm bolts on the ash tray bracket to access the 2 7mm bolts on the drink cup holder bracket.

The newer style cup holder installed.

The color matches just need 10 years of Armor-All and dust to blend properly.

Maybe this will motivate some of you to upgrade your cup holder...it's easy!

Looks pretty straight forward. I always hated those stupid old cup holders, that engineer should be strapped in the passenger seat and made to take hot coffee in those holders and left turns.

They listed denim blue didn't they? If not get some paint and paint it. Me personally I like the 08 cupholders much better.... They come with the 08 console upgrade. Now I can have 2 44oz sonic drinks securely set side by side. Something the dash cupholder and the stock console could not acheive.

Waltdog,

Is that a lower dash upgrade? I don't remember that dash in a 2002. We more information on what you did there.
