Not finding anything obvious on a search. First time pulling the dash on my X, as I understand it, all I *should* need to do is remove the radio (already done), then the dash comes out with clips & some yanking, correct?
Its not budging the least (not an inch to the west, not an inch to the east) right now, and I reeeeealy don't want to put any more pressure on it than I have without hearing from someone who actually knows what they're doing
Whoa.....inside the radio hole...2 bolts on top. Take them out before you crack your dash. I removed mine last weekend.
Thank you, that's exactly the critical, need-to-know information I needed to know. Panel popped out like buttah after that. Now that's it's disconnected & sitting on the floor, will it mess anything up to start the truck without all the switches & such connected? I'm guessing not, but never know with computers....
Well "gauge" would be more specific, just fuel pressure right now & laying some groundwork for the others. Coolant temp goes in around Thanksgiving when I do the flush & filter, oil temp when I change the oil & add the bypass filter. The rest when I can get around to it. And to clean up the dangling wires from my backup camera.
Hmmm, manual Excursion... THAT would be kind of awesome!
There is a hole in the firewall above the brake...rubber oval cap on one side, foil insulated looking diamond cutout on the other...huge opening you can pass wires through.
the pass through wires will work. that gauge works on voltage reference, its given direct voltage and then the sender unit, acts as a resistance based on the pressure. more pressure = more resistance. the gauge then reads how much voltage was lost and translates that into a number.
i used the clutch hole above the brake pedal anyways its easy to get to. i also have a lot of wires back and forth
