Need quick answer, dash removal?

Not finding anything obvious on a search. First time pulling the dash on my X, as I understand it, all I *should* need to do is remove the radio (already done), then the dash comes out with clips & some yanking, correct?

Its not budging the least (not an inch to the west, not an inch to the east) right now, and I reeeeealy don't want to put any more pressure on it than I have without hearing from someone who actually knows what they're doing

The trim piece the radio is in? Ya, give it a tug.

Whoa.....inside the radio hole...2 bolts on top. Take them out before you crack your dash. I removed mine last weekend.

Thank you, that's exactly the critical, need-to-know information I needed to know. Panel popped out like buttah after that. Now that's it's disconnected & sitting on the floor, will it mess anything up to start the truck without all the switches & such connected? I'm guessing not, but never know with computers....

If you have to drive it....pull the switches out of the dash bezel and hook them up.

Thanks for the info guys. No worries, that went back together quick & easy. Ran out of daylight so today was mostly a scouting expedition.

Next headache is to find a spot in the firewall to route some wiring thru (pass-thru wires on the factory harness won't work, gauge sender cable).

You're installing gauges? So am I. I 'll have some tips/pics for you this weekend. Do you have auto or manual tranny?

Well "gauge" would be more specific, just fuel pressure right now & laying some groundwork for the others. Coolant temp goes in around Thanksgiving when I do the flush & filter, oil temp when I change the oil & add the bypass filter. The rest when I can get around to it. And to clean up the dangling wires from my backup camera.

Hmmm, manual Excursion... THAT would be kind of awesome!

There is a hole in the firewall above the brake...rubber oval cap on one side, foil insulated looking diamond cutout on the other...huge opening you can pass wires through.

the pass through wires will work. that gauge works on voltage reference, its given direct voltage and then the sender unit, acts as a resistance based on the pressure. more pressure = more resistance. the gauge then reads how much voltage was lost and translates that into a number.
i used the clutch hole above the brake pedal anyways its easy to get to. i also have a lot of wires back and forth
