I am working on my boss's 2001 Excursion Lariat.
The mirrors have the built in flasher ( no marker light ) and heat.
It has the smaller mirrors and he wanted to upgrade to the larger tow mirrors. I bought a set
of aftermarkets. The harness is the square type, and the truck harness
is the round 4 pin. I got a split harness for the heat but the turn signals
do not work. The adapter I got is only 3 pin. I determined that the missing
pin would have aligned with the blinker.
I also don't know what wire on the mirror operates the blinker or marker light.
Has anyone came across this issue before? Got any ideas?
Here is the harness round plug. It has 4 pins. The split heat plug is not shown but that works.
Here is the adapter plug. It has 3 pins and I cannot find a 4 pin adapter online:
Thanks,
No that didnt help. I think the truck I am working on is wired
differently than other truck. I know witch wire on the trucks harness
is for the blinker but I cant figure out how to make it work on the new mirror.

I would try taking a multi-meter and see if you get 12V on the truck side socket where that missing pin would go when you activate the left turn signal. If so, then that's your answer.
Just to update. I ordered the 2 connecters from Ford to make my own adapter.
The heat plug I cut off of the adapter that I bought online. The connectors from Ford came
with about 14" of wire leads, connectors and shrink tube. The 3 wires on the plug connector
that come with the aftermarket mirror round plug should be hooked up the same.
The missing 4th wire is for the turn signal as shown above. I still had to hard wire
the parking lights to the switch. Biggest pain was running the wires thru the rubber boot
in the door jamb. Hope this helps someone else.
