Using a Drop Receiver with a Heavy Step Bumper???

I need to have a receiver hitch on my truck for my dirt bike. I ordered up a frame-mount, drop-style receiver hitch, but I hope to retain my big bumper. Is this possible???

Truck is 2001 F250SD 5.4 V8...

I would say NOPE. The hitch goes right where those braces are running across the frame rails.

Hopefully they bolted the bumper and supports to the frame.

Why not convert the current bolt hitch to this? This one is 2 5/16" but suspect you can find one with 2" ball.

Super cool idea, but I am using one of those carriers for the dirt bike. The XR500R weighs close to 300lbs with fuel, map cylinder and tool bag, so I bought a Class V receiver hitch...

Just remove the current hitch completely. If you need the pintle hitch, get a pintle hitch mount to use in the Class V hitch. That way you will not have to worry about those braces underneath your truck.

If you want a reciever hitch AND the current bumper, either extensive mods are necessary, OR you are SOL.
Maybe find a certified welder that can fabricate a reciever into the existing bumper?
Good luck.

I grew up in a race car fabrication shop, so modifications to the bumper braces are not a problem, just an unwanted delay...

Hmmmm....a 4 bolt, 2" receiver plate mount in place of the pintle hook might be even better...

Very happy withthe decision to keep the 1/4" fabricated step bumper. The bolt-n receiver is excellent...Thanks for the tip, Muchachos... :-)
