So I'm looking at hitch receivers online (1990 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350 Trailer Hitch | etrailer.com) and the website lists standard, step, or deep drop. I know that my bumper is aftermarket and I'm fairly sure that it hangs lower than a factory one. I assume that by "standard" they mean the factory bumper, so I'm unsure if I would be step or deep drop to clear my bumper. My bumper looks exactly like this, only mine is chrome:
Ok, when I get one (probably in the spring) I will go for the step bumper one. On the website most of them say that the spare tire may need to be relocated. Is this just the standard thing to say because some trucks you do? Or will I really need to move mine? Also, the website lists ones that say "Will not fit vehicles that have a 34 inch wide frame" and ones that say "Hitch fits larger 37-1/4 inch frames". Which frame would my truck have?
No idea on the spare tire, as my spare resides in the bed. I'd just slide under there and measure the frame width so you're sure you have the correct measurement.
I installed one on my 95 a few weeks ago and didn't have to reposition the spare at all. I can check the part number on it if that will help you. I know it's a curt hitch.
Alright. Ill probably wait until the snow is gone before I really do much about installing one. It takes about 10 minutes before you're so cold you loose interest in everything right now lol.
