Abs.....

Hey guys. I just bought a 2006 f-250 xlt with the 5.4 4x4. Bought the truck got it on the highway and it had a wobble. Took it to a shop and they said front passenger wheel bearing. Bought the part at a online store had the shop replace for me and now my abs light is on. Hub came with a new sensor. They tried with the old sensor and abs light is still on. Wanting to know if anybody else had this problem and how they fixed it. This weekend im going to to take it back apart to inspect the parts. But other than that im stumped.

Wild guess here (not really).....the shop damaged the the harness or sensor connector. No ABS light before the repair, ABS light as soon as you pick up the truck. Pretty straightforward.

If they won't fix what they caused, check the pin fitment at the harness connector.

just checked the pins and they looked good. Disconnected the battery hoping it would kinda reset but as soon as i start the truck maybe a second later that abs light comes right back on.

This is exactly the type of scenario that can play out, where a customer supplies a part and requests installation. As a dealership technician myself, I'm inclined to agree with the shop's conclusion that the supplied part is the likely cause of the ABS light on. The dilemma here, is the shop cannot be held responsible for a bad out of box part. You're only recourse now, is to let the shop obtain the replacement part to resolve your issue.

the shop wanted $690 for part and labor. Wanted $275 just for labor i got the part for $124 including shipping. I paid them to do the labor cuz i live in ny and its a little chilly this time of year. Haha can the actual bearing/ hub assembly or is it something else? I dont see how the bearing is the problem. Thanks guys i really Appreciate the input and advice.

The answer to your question above highlighted in bold font is YES. Even more so is this the possibility, given the fact that this issue has come after replacement. So you saved $399 by supplying the part. But did you really save on that, if you now have to pay them the labour again to replace another part that THEY obtain? At least if they obtain the part, THEY are responsible for warrantable issues with the part that they supply. Every repair, usually comes with a post-repair road test to ensure the repair is successful. If this had occurred on a part that THEY obtained, you probably wouldn't even have received a phone call from them to inform you the vehicle was ready, before they ended up having to replace it again with a non-defective part. At least that's how it would've worked at the dealership where I work. NOW, the responsibility is on YOU to get your money back on the defective part that you supplied.
