What engine did your truck originally have? All trucks, if it were running before, have a c321 plug. Unless someone cut it out and used crimp splices or something. If you look in this link, every style ignition they used in a 1986 truck had a c321. You can find it in each diagram.

If the module you have plugged into all the original Ford harness plugs going to the truck, no. The Ford harness has a resistor made into it. That resistor is Painless again helping you if you didn't have a truck with the original wiring.

Ive got the painless harness all in exactly as the directions say, with the ballast resistor, all visible ground wires grounded, the plugs out of the firewall are not used except the white/ light blue wire from the 321 male plug to power the red module wire that also ties into ballast resistor input ,problem is there's no battery power whatsoever, no dome light, head lights, dash, nothing, when I turn on the key the ballast gets hot (painless says it should) but nothing else shows life all the plugs from the EFI removal were wrapped and put aside with electrical tape, its as if the battery's disconnected. Is the old computer even a factor now, could it be preventing everything from powering on?

Check at the starter relay / solenoid for wires not hooked to the large stud the battery is on.
There should be a few smaller wires called fuse links.
They power different things thru out the truck.
I am guessing you removed 1 to many wires when removing the computer.

Could someone tell me what the white/pink wire is for, its in the stock male 321 plug at the top but the module plug doesnt accomodate it, the stock female it plugged into has a diode then turns green/white and disappears into the loom into the firewall, this wire AND the red/ Lt blue wire shown both have continuity to the push on wire to the starter relay.

Also as stated before, all electrical power is off, I grounded the module earlier and tapped on it with my hand and the lights came on and the engine would turn over, I plugged the red wire (shown) into the S side of relay and the brown wire from the painless harness from the coil into the "I" side of the relay as it states, the engine turned over a couple times then all electric power was gone again and hasn't come back since-none of this was occurring before the work started-hope I didn't fry something..any thoughts at what I can try next? Also Ive checked the 3 links by the relay and they all have continuity.

Update- within the last few minutes the power has all come back, I haven't tried turning the engine over since nothing different has been done yet, its as if a relay is cycling on and off

I say this based on your picture of the relay and why the above post was made as your relay wiring does not look right for stock starter.

I’m sure the starter is stock, because of age it’s probably been changed but it looks original to the truck—also the small red wire shown in the pic was pressed onto the “I” on the solenoid before work began, according to the pic the wire should have been on the “S” ?

Ok that is just 1 thing I see not right but.....
I see a battery cable on the large stud on the far side of relay above the black box, does that go to a stud on the starter?
If so then good

Then I see 2 battery cables on the near side large stud.
One is from the battery (red?) where does the other go to (black)?
That eyelet with smaller wires is ok on the stud, do you have another eyelet loose some where close?
I would think you would have a larger gauge wire (10ga) from ALT to that near stud to charge the battery as the smaller wires don't look like any are from the ALT.

Sorry for the delay I’m in and out of work -Yes the one black cable on the right goes to the starter the red one on the left goes to the battery and the black one goes down to the alternator I know it’s large but the only cable I had when the other one broke.
