I did my '17 F250 and my wife's '17 Explorer last month, we both like 3.4 much better than 3.0, it's faster and looks a lot better.
You'll never see an update to 3.4 on the Ford website, it's a 2020+ vehicle only update according to some Ford employees on the Fusion forums. And I saw about brightness working on 3.4
Has anybody with a 2017 with the ambient light color selection/brightness done this yet? My question is if those functions will be retained after doing this update.
I did not lose my ambient lighting choices on my Lariat Ultimate after the 3.4 update.
Looks good, but not too thrilled about the process of using three different USB drives to do the update. I’m bound to get is screwed up. I’m hoping that this update will be available via WiFi.
I'm not really seeing a difference between this and what came on my 2019 f250. What is different than what was on yours?
Guy's been trying to do this for 2 days now and pulling my hair out... LOL I've downloaded the files and installed the firmware and then even the 1st file afterwards thinking I have the latest firmware since I upgraded to 3.0 not long ago..
All I get when I plug in my thumb drive now no matter what I do is USB 1 Detected and then nothing else, please help a brother out here.. Driving me NUTS as I thought I was somewhat computer literate! LOL

Not a fan of these colors either. The stock blue in my 17' is just awful. I prefer the Lincoln theme with my tan interior. Can't believe that in 2019 we are still stuck with unchangeable colors and persistent bugs for years
Exactly! You would think you pay over 70k for a truck: you could customize the UI on the screen and lighting in the instrument cluster. One of the biggest fails of the interior. I will never forget changing the colors only to realize that when you changed to like green or purple the gauges,UI, or speedometer/rpm arms did not either. That would be so dank.
Thanks for the post on this upgrade. Installed sync 3.4 on my 2017 and it's working fine so far. Time will tell if the "reverts to FM" bug comes back or not.
How did you get 3.4 on a 2017? I have a 2019 F350 and can't go above 3.0
I wouldn’t hold my breath on seeing this available anytime soon via the normal channels imo. The install is stupid easy honestly. Download the files from his link, unzip them, take the files out of the USB1 folder and place them on the thumb drive, plug thumb drive in and the system does the rest, when it’s done it will ask for thumb drive 2 do that and you’ll be at 3.4 build 19200(something liken that), plug 3rd drive in and watch screen it will tell you it’s updating and then say done, restart truck(sync) and build will be the newest one. All in all I did this on my lunch break with 1 thumb drive(had to clear files and add new) it took me about 45 mins and was easy.
NOTE: On my 2019, the 3rd USB Stick simply said "Indexing..." for about 15 seconds and then nothing for about 10 or 15 minutes... THEN, the dialogue box came up and said "Software Update Complete, you may remove your USB Device - changes will take effect the next time you start your vehicle!" If I hadn't been patient and just left that 3rd stick in their, I had no way of knowing it was doing anything!!!!
