FYI - yesterday i received a notice from Ford on the Ford Pass app that tthere is an extensive upgrade for my truck’s Sync 3 software. It included instructions for retrieving the software from Ford.
I received a similar FordPass notification yesterday. This update appears to be Sync 3.0 Build 19205 (JR3T-14G381-AS).

HTH,
Jim / crewzer
I got the same notification (not sure about version). Would this be fordpass detecting we have a different version (if you have 3.4 installed which I do)?

I don't believe that FordPass is directly involved. My understanding is that individual notifications are sent based on Ford's configuration records for your VIN. For example, the SYNC system drops a .xml file onto the USB when the update is done, and then you can transmit this back to FORD to update your record.

I got it too via Fordpass yesterday and still have 3.0 in my truck. When I log onto the Ford owner site it says no downloads available. Probably because I already did it several weeks ago. I think Fordpass is behind on notifications.
Morning Leon. Thank you very much. I did the 3.4 upgrade no problem, I just was unsure about 3.3 because the link is just a TAR.GZ file. I just wasn't sure how to extract / load the USB file. Any help is appreciated!
Downgrade from 3.4 to 3.3 19052. This is actually the same process as an apps upgrade. 3.3 simply overwrites 3.4.
Note that my personal best practice habit is to rename all files and correct all syntax for standardization. I find this helps to avoid mistakes, but it’s a personal choice.
Warning: Proceed at your own risk!
Format USB Drive to FAT32. USB name is not relevant.
Download correct apps file. No need to extract file(s) to speed up install as this downgrade is pretty basic.
Observe correct file structure and syntax. No room for mistakes. Apps file goes into a directory called SyncMyRide and the autoinstall.lst file goes into the root directory. No more and no less.
Perform standard USB install process with vehicle running.
Mac Users: The macOS might create one or more hidden files on the USB. Some have reported issues, but I’ve never had an issue.
My goto forum thread for everything SYNC 3.4 is here. This thread is packed with brain power!
I'm still on whatever came in my 19. What is 3.3 and how does it differ from 3.4?
3.3 is the last version of Sync that "looks" like 3.0
3.2 and above requires a reformat and there's currently no going back to 3.0.
3.4 is a completely different GUI than 3.3 and below. No real user facing feature changes for vehicles that did not ship with 3.4, but the GUI is different. Some like it and some don't. I actually prefer 3.4, BUT I mostly use CarPlay. I have heard of issues with media management on external USBs and Sat graphics.
I would add that I prefer the Ford nav GUI in 3.4 over 3.0.
Unless one likes to play with this stuff, has an issue that's solved with 3.4 or wants the easy update to maps 1.18 I would avoid the risk of doing the reformat and the 3.4 upgrade.

Just went through this thread, and I definitely fall into this category. I like 3.0 interface that came with my truck so I am unlikely to tinker with it. However, I do have one question for you, if you don't mind. I don't have factory NAV, I use AA all the time, but I wish the stock unit could display google maps on the home screen (on the left), just like factory NAV does. Does 3.4 offer that option? If it did, I would give 3.4 a try.
Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I've tried downloading the file from the Ford website at least 15 times and it never downloads correctly. It will either stop all together or when it completes, it says decompression failed (using a Mac). Any hints?

Not sure about AA as I'm not an Android user. CarPlay is a completely separate GUI other than some button changes at the bottom of the Sync 3.X screen.

Which file?
EDIT: When needed I use Stuffit Expander for dealing with Ford files instead of the built-in macOS utility.
JR3T-14G381-AS.zip And yes I have stuffit. In the file download bar in Safari it say the decompression issue when the file is finished and when you try stuffit, it errors out.
