updated sync to 2020 software

Ok I just made a thread looking for the software the other night, after a little more digging someone else was already on it and had done it. ill link to the original thread and give credit to the original author. Do this at your own risk I am not responsible if you brick your sync. this is in my 2019 F350.

here is the original thread:

Thanks for posting this as it is good to see it works on our trucks. I also hav3 a 2019 F350.

Have you noticed any loss in functionality.
Do you have NAV? Is fo, any issues with the maps?
Do you have the massaging seats or a heated steering wheel? Just wondering if they remain functional on the screen?
Same with all the other climate control Stu, any missing or broken features?

i was following that thread, but it is difficult now to tell exactly what steps to take and files to use.

Did you also use forscan?

Thanks,
Chuck

i just did the install on my lunch earlier, all my features remained, as you can see in the picture my heated and cooled seats remained on the screen(I added these with forscan) along with my heated steering wheel, only thing I had to do was readd my phone, the UI actually seems to glow much better than the version that came in my truck. As for the question about nav I’m not sure as I haven’t driven the truck. I do know it picked up instantly where my truck was when it was done loading. I haven’t found any broken features yet.

Looks slick! I was wondering what version the 2020 was running from the TFL video that was posted.

That's great! Thanks for posting that. Does it enable ambient light control? Not color, but brightness. That's probably a hardware not software change one the 20's.

just went and checked there’s not an option for it on the sync, I’m betting it a forscan change. I have ambient lighting it’s just the fixed ice blue.

One feature I like and I didn’t have on my old sync version is when I get a call from my wife now it shows her picture on the screen.

Looks good, but not too thrilled about the process of using three different USB drives to do the update. I’m bound to get is screwed up. I’m hoping that this update will be available via WiFi.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on seeing this available anytime soon via the normal channels imo. The install is stupid easy honestly. Download the files from his link, unzip them, take the files out of the USB1 folder and place them on the thumb drive, plug thumb drive in and the system does the rest, when it’s done it will ask for thumb drive 2 do that and you’ll be at 3.4 build 19200(something liken that), plug 3rd drive in and watch screen it will tell you it’s updating and then say done, restart truck(sync) and build will be the newest one. All in all I did this on my lunch break with 1 thumb drive(had to clear files and add new) it took me about 45 mins and was easy.

the maps worked great on my drive home and I feel like there’s more details in the maps now. I believe the maps version is 1.18 or something like that. I got bored this morning before leaving work and tested out the Lincoln theme also.

Appreciate the encouragement about the USB method. I may just give it a shot. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I have a 2019 F350 XLT so have the SYNC 3 but no Navigation from the factory. I'd be curious to see if anyone has done it without the Navigation SYNC 3.

I was thinking of getting the module to change out on the back of the screen to add Navigation, but with the Apple Car Play I don't really see the need as you have access to Google Maps or Apple Maps etc...
