Injector and tuning question

I am in the process of replacing my 07 6.0 injectors. I have a couple questions regarding this as I am not well versed on performance parts and such. My engine is studded, has an EGR delete done, blue spring, FICM voltage upgrade. I am not looking to do anything major to it as it is a daily driver but I hate to not at least look at my options. I’m not looking to drop a lot of cash beyond what it takes to fix what I’m fixing. So, my first question is should I go with full stock injectors or bump up to 155/ stock? Next comes the tuner as I do want to be able to upgrade a little. I’ve read that SCT is the way to go for this truck but I’m not sure what model would be best for my situation? And finally where to get the best tunes dependent on the injector choice? I will do some towing from time to time and also would like to get a bit better fuel mileage if possible when using it just as my daily driver. Any suggestions on what I should be looking at?

While we aren't fans of voltage modified FICM's (see https://www.ficmrepair.com/index.cfm...rod/prd179.htm), it sounds like you are well on your way. I suppose the first question is why are you looking at replacing your injectors to begin with and whether you have considered just cleaning up the ones you have now. If you are set on replacing them, we rep for about eight different brands (OEM, Alliant, Holders, Warren, Full Force, Bosch, etc). The OEM option is absolutely solid, but there are better options out there that back up their claims with longer warranties.

We can also talk with you about the pros and cons of bumping up to larger/higher capacity ones as well along with cover all of the other considerations when tearing into things (like the basis for consideration of doing things like dummy plugs, standpipes, and very specifically aftermarket injector cup nipples and their corresponding o-rings. For tuning, we rep for Matt and pretty well everyone else. Tuning is truly amazing.

Our aim isn't to ever 'sell' anything - we just want to provide you the litany of options so that you can make the best choice for you. It, of course, helps that we haven't been beat on price on anything we do end up selling (and that's over 16 million products for this driveline alone) in perhaps a decade.

If you'd benefit from a conversation, give us a call. We're at 515-897-4459!

I’m replacing them due tot he fact that I have several of them sticking frequently and have been through all of the methods of reducing this to the point that nothing makes them any better any longer.

Since I didn’t get a reply earlier I had already decided on using ghtuning as you both have suggested. I am still on the fence about the injectors themselves but I am going to use something with a stick nozzle at least. I’m not looking to get crazy power or anything that will cause issues with my fuel economy.

I appreciate the input and it looks like I was headed in the right direction already. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t way off.

GH Tuning is among our favorites, for sure. Re the stock nozzles, just recognize that in these trucks it is generally the case that the more power you are pushing, the better fuel economy you are getting (well, so long as you don't drive it like a 17-year old, lol)

Ive heard good things about them. I cannot wait to get their tunes set up and give it a whirl. I have spent enough money on this truck already I’d like to see what it really can do, within reason.

You need larger nozzles to get more power, the first number is the volume of fuel the injector holds. 155/30s will work with a stock turbo and custom tune or just go with stock injectors and get the Atlas40 or Atlas80 from FICMRepair to wake it up. Holder Performance has the best warranty you’ll find on injectors at 3 years/100,000 miles.

You should feel what stock injectors with the Hercules FICM tune and SRL will do.
Makes it feel like your driving a gas engine truck.

You guys are spot on. Holders has the best warranty in the space that we’ve found and are awesome products - we’ve never had a comeback, in fact, on them.

Tuning is incredible on the FICM and on the ECM sides both. Think about the solenoids on the transmission, though, if you are going to go Hercules, especially.

I have over 20,000 miles on my shift solenoids upgrade and 6.4 transmission filter swap running 35” rubber, 175/30 Holder Premiums, PowerMax, S&B Stage2 intake etc with no transmission slipping. I still plan on regearing with 4.10s and a built transmission later but no issues as is.

Here’s a light romp with my custom GearHead tow tune. Spooling could be faster but it’s a sluggish low end with any PowerMax...KC Turbos dual ball bearing turbo is in the works.
