Interior Lights Will not Turn ON

‘04 X Limited with time delay auto off. Interior lights/ running board lights won’t turn on when doors or lift gate is open. Been an intermittent problem for a while but now is dead. All interior lights with switches work in manual mode. All interior lights are LED and worked prior to system dying. The interior light switch on the main light switch does not turn on the lights. Changed time delay relay, no joy. Sprayed all door/tailgate switches with lubricant, no joy. Checked the wiring diagrams and the failure appears to be the two relays on the instrument cluster circuit board. Next plan is to replace relays. However, before I pull the dash apart, I want to get feedback from those who have gone before me dealing with the interior light problem to be sure I did not miss something.

Any info is appreciated.

Check fuse F35 under the dash. If not blown, verify it is actually ALWAYS HOT.

If so, odds are high that you have a failure in the instrument cluster related to the interior lamps relay or its related circuitry. Previous posters have referenced a burn trace on the circuit board but I don't recall if they ever provided any pictures. There are other possibilities, though....

Thanks for the info. F35 is verified always hot. Years ago I had the interior lights on all the time, no radio and no gauges. The only way I could turn the lights off for night driving was to remove the instrument cluster and break the connection. I installed a remote 5amp circuit breaker and turned the interior lights on and off manually until I fixed the problem. The solution was the interior light auto off “time delay” relay was bad. Still have the circuit breaker installed just in case.
