My interior and running board lights are staying on all the time and I had to pull the fuse. I have tried the WD-40 trick but it is not working this time as it has done in the past. I have also checked the dimmer switch to make sure it was not on all the time. Is there an easy way to find out which door lock actuator is causing this, or do I have to replace all of them? What is the best way to approach the troubleshooting of this?
When mine did the same thing i found there is a relay in the insterment cluster that goes bad. I had to replace the whole cluster to get the lights to work properly.
Sounds like what happened to me when I first got my X. I noticed that my door ajar light was on also so I assumed it was a stuck door switch. I ended up re-opening and closing all the doors / hatches one at a time with a little more force than normal and noted which one actually turned off the lights.
The relay is built into the custer main insterment circuit board. as far as I now there is no way to test it to see what part is bad. I bought a used cluster from the junk yard and took it to a local spedo shop and had the milage reprogamed into the junk yard one all is good.
Thank you for the reply. I checked and a used instrument cluster costs about $150.00. I want to be completly sure this is the problem before I spend this amount of money. Can amyone else chime in on what the problem and fix may be? I have removed the fuse to keep the lights off but I have lost my mirror adjustment and power windows. I dont mind spending the money if I know what the fix is.
