Disconnect dome lights?
i ran out of wd 40 , would a scanner or code reader tell me where the problem lies? someone told me the lights should time out after 30 minutes, is this true? any help would be appreciated. tracy p.s. does anyone know how to get a hold of discount parts that i heard about on this site?
Y2Kdiscountparts web server has been crashing for me for several days. I don't know what's going on with them.
But you can reach Ed the FTEpartsGuy using contact info in this post:

Your interior lights are controlled by output from the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has the Battery Saver Relay and the Interior Lights Relay. I doubt if either of those relays is user replaceable, but you could pull the cluster and check.
I don't think your problem is the door switches, because the radio goes off when you open a door like it should. I'm not sure about the back doors. Do back doors turn off the radio like the front doors? I don't have a crew cab, so I am not sure, maybe someone else can tell us.
So by my schematic, I suspect you will need a new cluster, and that's why the dealer didn't want to, or couldn't, fix it. If you want to bandaide it, look for the black/light blue stripe wire coming out of the cluster. It should be pin #26 on the cluster. Snip that wire in a spot where you can splice it back if this doesn't work, and your interior lights should go dead. Wire it to your own SPST switch to be able to turn your interior lights on manually.
There won't be a fuse to pull to fix this problem, because as you already know, your cluster will go dead.
Lastly, it could be a bad roller switch on the panel dimmer control. But that would be way too easy.
Yes, the Battery Saver Relay turns your interior lights and radio off after exactly 10 minutes. I've timed it on my watch many times.
Connectors c220a, c220b and c220c all seem to have a courtesy light wire. These connectors are behind the dashboard near the top.
I don't know how to post pictures, but if you PM me your e-mail address I can pull these off in .pdf and e-mail them to you...
