Does anyone know if it is possible to temporarily turn off the interior lights when the door opens, or which wire to cut and insert a manual switch?
When waiting for passengers in a parking lot at night, would rather not be illuminated inside for the half minute or so when I open the doors in a sketchy neighborhood! Would rather see the surroundings and be in the dark until I decide I want light, vs it coming on automatically for a timed interval.

You're in CANADA for chrissakes!! You want a sketchy neighborhood, go to DETROIT!! Sorry, just HAD to say that...
The interior lights are run off the same fuse/relay as a couple of other items, so I'm not sure how you'd go about it, but I had to comment on Canada's violent nightlife....
No need to cut or install anything. There is already a temporary cut-off for the interior lights. Just roll the instrument panel brightness control all the way down until it clicks. That turns off all interior lights as long as it is in that position. Just remember to roll it back up before driving away or it will be difficult to see your instruments!
on your roof is the light switch. should have 3 positions
ON
On with Door
Off
I thought he wanted everything off...map lights and puddle lamps also. Otherwise, yes, there's the switch on the light. All of my stuff comes on when I unlock or open a door.
the panel dimmer switch in the click position (didnt know this existed) did the trick.
Thanks for the advice!
& PS:
the vehicle is in Tampa this week (for chrissakes!!) and the neighborhood I was in probably equates to the sketchiness of Detroit!!!) Didnt wanna be there with dome lights shining on us! Now I know why you Americans carry guns!! ;-)
Glad I could help. I will be heading to the Tampa area in a few weeks and I don't go running around down there (or anywhere else, for that matter) without my Glock.
