I recommend changing to a 38639 orifice tube and removing and cleaning the evaporator core while system is discharged. The heater core supply shut off valve is also highly recommended.

Will do...I have no idea what that is, but I will look into it since I am taking it in to a shop for that.
I already bought the shutoff valve.....I can do that myself though. I put the Dieselsite version on my old Excursion....wasnt too impressed with that one, and didnt like that it had to be on Max to work.

If you tie into the red line it does not have to be on max to work. Robin posted this years back.
Its still typically plumbed into the return line and it does not STOP the flow of coolant (heater core is still warm). It’s also a known failure point with a limited lifespan.
I close my manual valve in late spring when I stop using HEAT and open it on the first fall morning when I’m chilly. It’s not any more effort than checking the oil.
on my '97 I am pretty sure my evap is clogged with lint, dust leaves and what ever else can get in there as high on the fan feels like medium or low, but dang it is cold.
on my 2000 excursion huge difference cooling that monster.
haven't driven my parents '97 since the new compressor and the cold shot but my mom says it gets too cold.
haven't done the 2019 F450 yet, was waiting to get some miles on the others for my own sanity of weather it works or not or if it grenades the system. probably put it in this year when I see the box on my shelf and remember to do it.
