AC Refrigerant Booster Testing

I have been testing a refrigerant performance booster for the past week or so. It’s called Cool Shot Ultra (https://www.errecom.com/en/product/cool-shot-ultra/) and it’s made by an outfit called Errecom. I took several temperature readings of both ambient and AC output temperatures at different times of the day both before and after the introduction of Cool Shot Ultra into my AC system.

My observations:
  1. My AC system has an absolute lower output limit of 45.5°F. It won’t get any colder than that.
  2. On average, the introduction of Cool Shot Ultra improved the AC output temperature by 8°F.
  3. The higher the ambient temperature, the better the improvement in AC performance with Cool Shot Ultra in it. This is not to say that the AC system will freeze your *** in 100+ degree weather. It just means the AC systems cools the air down from ambient temperature by a bigger delta when ambient temperature is higher. The actual AC output temperature is still also higher when ambient is higher.
I had to get 30 shots of this stuff because that was their minimum order quantity. I am aware you can find single doses on eBay but they're charging a lot for it. I will be using some in my machines to see if it improves efficiency but I will probably be able to spare a few for others to try if you are interested. Please PM if you are.

Funny side story: Errecom is an Italian company without much of a presence in the US yet. When I dealt with their Italian sales office and told them my name is Leonard, they went “Eyyyyyy LeoNARdo!!”

Leonardo, what does it change?

Did you have the proper refrigerant amount in the system before adding 'Cool Shot'?

Thanks!

found some info... looks like a 'Slick-50'/degreaser

Oil Fouling causes many of the problems linked to the refrigeration and air conditioning systems, above all if they are pretty old. Throughout the years, some oil remains settle on the walls of the refrigerant and air conditioning units.

These stratifications obstruct the heat exchange process, by isolating the refrigerant gas and reducing the plant performances. This causes an unavoidable decrease of the service and a consequent increase of the mainte-nance costs and CO2 emissions (the system does not cool anymore -> the consumer needs to turn up its power -> electricity bill gets higher and even CO2 does).

Cool-Shot Ultra has been designed in Errecom labs to improve the plant conditions, by giving it new life and performances: thanks to Cool-Shot Ultra air gets easily colder. Analyzing some Errecom case-histories, we have some interesting data: -5°C very shortly, +73% of heat exchange, -20% of the plant energy consumption. The compressor lubricant increases its efficiency (+54%), and the unit gains +50% of lifetime.
By solving the Oil Fouling problem, Cool-Shot Ultra is a 100% ecological product: thanks to its usage consumers can even save electricity and CO2 emissions.
Were you able to purchase it direct?

They claim it improves system efficiency by reducing oil fouling. They also claim several other benefits but the improvement in efficiency is the main one.

I'm pretty sure I got 42oz on the nose in there. At least that's what the scale told me.

Edit:
Oops, looks like you found their marketing copy while I was typing my reply to your first post.

Yes, I was able to buy it direct.

I will admit I was(still am?) pretty skeptical about their claims when I first looked into it. I spent at least 3 months looking for reviews and was surprised by how many positive results there seemed to be. I would like for others to try it to see what results they get.

The oil seems like what it's treating, I would assume its compatible with all PAG oils.
I don't know what oil is in rf1234, nor have I seen a vehicle running it yet.

is it injected in to a full system or do you have to evacuate and use suction to pull it in?

It can be injected into a full system. I imagine it's even easier to inject into an evacuated system.

This photo was after cool shot and a 30 min drive to work outside temp was 88 degrees at 3pm

Leonard- Just curious if you were driving it for a while with the first temp. reading, or sitting in the driveway.

It looks like it comes in a syringe, does this have a fitting that connects straight to the low pressure AC port?

In my case, all the readings were taken after driving for various durations and when it felt like the cab had reached a steady temperature.
