oil filter bypass setup

Are any of you running this Asoil bypass oil filter setup, or do you know anything about it?

First off, welcome you guys as your newer members here. I don't know anything about the Amsoil bypass but I do run a Filtrations Solutions FS2500 bypass.

I also posted pictures of it as well on another bypass thread here. The installation was very straight forward. I bought the spin on filter conversion but will use it after this next oil change is done. What's nice about the FS2500 is that it has a sample port fitting on it which makes it nice and easy to get a sample for a UOA.

Here's another thread I found by using the search tab on top.

Here's another by pass thread where I commented. Good luck with your choice. Any other questions or if you want some pics, please let me know.

All you have to do is search for what you are looking for:

I look at is as a company trying to sell you a product you, the average diesel pickup owner, might not need. Amsoil and others are in the business to make money.

Amsoil might be a great product and beneficial to the big rig tuckers since they go further than 7500 miles between oil changes.

If you were a hotshot driver, it might be beneficial to extending your oil changes if you are covering 5k miles or more a week.

Most of us do not cover 7500 miles in 6 months or even in 3 months. That is the oil life/change Ford recommends for the 6.7. Also, if Ford had felt the Motorcraft filter was not acceptable, they would have designed it differently or had a by-pass filtration setup in conjunction with the stock filter.

With one of the Fumto, EZ Oil Drain, etc valves, you can get a sample with relative ease also.

It is your money and your truck, if you think it will ease your mind, by all means order it and add it. Just remember in the 30??, 40?? years Ford has been producing pickup trucks with diesel engines, Ford has yet to add a bypass oil filtration system. I highly doubt Doddge/Ram or GM has a bypass filter stock.

Just my humble thoughts and 2 cents.

I only want the bypass to get the soot out of the engine in deleted now and i want to try and get as much of the soot cleaned out as i can. As for the engineers knowing best they don’t care. Ford gets your $80 000 for a truck they don't care if you get 5 years 10 years or 20 out it they just want your cash. These trucks were designed to fail put an injection pump on when it grenades it wipes out the fuel system a turbo with substandard bearings in it and an engine designed to eat its own barf and carbon every thing up. Ya the engineers know what they’re doing.

I agree with some of what you said, the emissions system is more of a Federally mandated thing than it is a ford thing. Turbo was kind of a joke, but know guys with 300-400k on their stock turbo's of that model too, the injection pump is what it is, GM used it, Ford uses it, and Cummins recently started using it

I think you have been reading too many horror stories in the forums. Forums tend to magnify problems that only affect a small percentage of vehicles.

so...

If you want the bypass, why ask? Why didn't you just buy it and install the bypass? Appears you had already made your mind up.

I used the Insane Diesel bypass oil filter system. I wasn't a big fan of installing something between the stock filtering system and the oil filter. The Insane Diesel and I believe the Filtrations Solutions bypass system come off the oil sending unit. My firm belief is that the single most important thing you can do to extend the life of your 80k investment is to take care of the oil. I use Lubrication Engineers oil which is red. I check my oil monthly. The 1st month after installing my bypass oil filter system and oil the oil still had a red tinge to it a month later. Prior to installing the bypass oil filter the oil was jet black after just a few days let alone a month.

Chuck is correct. The FS2500 hooks up to the oil pressure sensor port in the oil filter housing.

There is also this system as well. It was mentioned in one of the threads I posted.

Here's Chuck's Insane system.

Here's an article on bypass filtration.

Here's an article on the Amsoil system.

I included this article from Cummins Filtration's Fleetguard. I know this about the larger oil sumps from Class A vehicles but I thought this included pertinent info. Enjoy.

There's also guys still rocking out the original system, the Frantz bypass. Here. Here. Here. Just throwing this out there for FYI. Plus I learn as I go.

Running the Amsoil kit on my 2012 with good results. Plenty of life left in oil sample sent to Blackstone labs at 7500 miles.

I ran an amsoil by pass on my prior 6.4, mainly because of the common oil cooler clog problems .

but the 6.7 has a fairly easy oil cooler to service

Id put one on anyway but it would void my warranty
