A while back when I had a 14 F i50 we were at a store. Next to us was an older F 250, while in the store a lady asks we drove the black F 150? We sad, yes and she asks if I would try and unlock her truck. We went out and sure enough, I unlocked her older F 250. She said her husband worked a Ford and said it was rare but I would work. Lucky for her it did and saved a locksmith visit

PRODUCT IDEA: Someone needs to make/sell a plastic lid which would turn the gargantuan Ford keyfob into a slighter larger gargantuan keyfob, but with a flip-phone style cover over it. I for one have had my truck do unintended things on multiple occasions because of inadvertently mashing the fob buttons while the damned thing was in my pocket. All my "accidents" were either locking or unlocking, but if I can accidentally unlock, then rolling the windows down accidentally is a pretty small reach.

An option for this product could be a version with RF lining for the tin-foil-hatters amongst us.

Not SD related but had a 2012 Infiniti QX80 that had a failed solenoid mid day. I walked out of a client's office to find all four door windows rolled down and it was stupid cold but thankfully not snowing that day in Michigan. Doors were unlocked as well. Later that afternoon I noticed the approach lights coming on by themselves and going off. When I got back to the suv the battery was dead so it had to be towed in. The failing solenoid controlled the fob response like the SD which is why the windows rolled themselves down. Also why the approach lights kept activating because it thought the fob was next to it. Simple quick fix but was crazy to experience. Thankfully it happened how it did and I was able to get it quickly replaced. We are now on our 3rd QX80 and have never had that issue since.

OK so I went into the dash controls under tools and found several different tools for your dash and controls. In that menu I found the one that sets this windows open unlock in motion. And turned it the heck off. I cant understand why a setting like that would be in the on as a default. Its a great thing Im sure in the southern states where in cab heat can be a major issue. Im sure opening the windows on approach to the vehicle is a good thing. But I think given the obvious ability for it to happen unintended... that it should default to off.

Thanks again to all as usual. This forum has provided more help in a shorter time than I believe I would be able to get by calling the dealer.

Oh I am going out to mine now to turn it off. I saw it and thought "yeah, that's a good idea for Texas heat".. but upon rethinking it... not so much. I'll deal with the heat and not risk it raining inside the truck or worse.

I don’t keep the fob in my pocket. My keys are there, but the fob has a clip that goes on my belt loop. As I approach the truck, I take the fob from my belt, unlock the door with the handle sensor, then drop the fob in the small bin just under the grip on the inside door that you use to pull the door shut (it’s the perfect size and location for it). As I exit the truck I grab the fob, after I’ve hit the ground, and hook it to my belt loop.

By the way, you can’t leave the fob inside and lock the fob inside, due to the proximity sensor. Every once in in a while I’ll be distracted and forget to grab the fob before closing the door. When I hit the handle to lock it, I realize the fob is still inside, because it won’t lock.

Mine must have malfunctioned one time. Glad it was in my driveway, instead of out somewhere, since I usually leave it running with the AC on and the dog locked inside.
