Need help operating remote start

Ok so here's the deal. I have an 04 nav and my parents just got a new 07 nav. When they brought it home I was looking at it and it had a warning sticker saying the car was equipped with remote start. We have not been able to figure out how it works so forgot about it. Well today they were over and my 2 yo son had their keys and all of a sudden the car started out in the driveway!!! What did he do and how to I do it!! From searching in here I tried hitting lock three times but it just honked at me.
The key fob has 5 buttons. Lock, unlock, lift gate, lift glass, panic. That's it

Please help! Thank you

A Jedi can start the car without a remote!

Remote start is not a factory option. Added by the dealer. Uses a separate controller, not the standard remote. At least those I've seen.

I really don't know, my 2011 with factory remote is a bit different. But it does honk before it starts.

I suspect the force doesn't run that strongly in your son.

What could be the problem is that the Navigator may need to be completely closed up i.e. all doors and windows closed and the hood closed. Try them locked. Then hit the lock three times and see what happens...

Be sure you son is far away and preoccupied, because if it works you aren't sure if it was the key fob or his intervention.

Good luck.

CodeAlarm who makes the OEM one also makes one that you can program your factory remotes to. I was thinking of having this one installed as I have the same factory 5 buttom remote as you and didn't want to change them out.
I think the start sequence was Lock, Unlock, Lock again.

Ask the Jedi how he did it.

Hahah. Funny the first thing we did was ask him what he did. He just giggled.
But we figured it out. Looked all under the dash and found the unit. It has an off on switch and wired into ignition. Sat in the car for 20 mins and finally hit the right combo. Lock, unlock then unlock again And hold it down and the car starts. Hit brake it turns off. Crazy huh??

Remote start is crazy to begin with.

Jedi start technique.
