I have only had my truck a few days and have a problem with the remote start.
It worked great for the first few days, but now this.
This morning i was in the house and tried to remote start. Lock, then the 2x button 2 times. truck beeped at me. So i did it again and again. Nothing but the truck honking at me. So i tried, unlock, lock 2x. Still honked at me.
THen i went out in the cold 5 ft from the truck and it did the same thing. so i climbed in started the truck manually, then shut it off , got out locked the doors. Then i did the lock, 2x two times and the truck fired up.
Did you remote start the truck twice already since the last time you put the key in? The truck only allows 2 remote starts between cycles of the ignition.
mine has been acting weird now that it has gotten colder. no range for distance to remote start it and does not strat if i do not get the two button pushes just right.
mine did that a couple times right after I got it. Its like the system resets itself and wont let you remote start. The 2 remotes starts between key cycles is a good idea though. Keeps the kids from starting and stopping the truck over and over when they get a hold of the keys.
What the hell ever happened to just pushing one button with the half circle arrow and having the vehicle start? Lock, unlock, lock, lock, trunk button, unlock, do hand stand, lock, brew coffee, unlock, panic button, lock, lock. No wonder these things are unreliable.

Now that's funny.
But it's not all that hard. Lock, start button 2 times
It's just to keep people from hitting the start button while keys are in a pocket or purse. Or in my case, the kids
My biggest complaint with the remote start is the range of the remote start. You have to be in sight of the vehicle to start it. What a joke, you pay upwards of $45-50 grand for a truck and you have a cheap remote start system.
I swear my factory remote start button is a remote horn button. I would estimate that my remote start works maybe 50% of the time.
If you read in the service manual there are a number of possible causes most of which are best left to your friendly neighborhood service department.
So, since your truck is new. Bring it to your dealer and let them figure it out. I have found it's better to show them what it's doing vs just telling them. If you show them, they can't say that the truck didn't do what you claim. But it's often tough to get them to take the time to let you show them.
Good luck!!!
FWIW, the system in my 11, per the service manual. Has a range of 328 feet.
They, the auto makers, could do one heck of a better job designing and implementing remote auto starters with all of the technology that is available today. I mean these smart phones can accomplish so much via the world of electronics. Why aren't there remote systems more advanced like them?
I purchased the Viper satellite system for my wife years ago. The auto can be started from anywhere as long as it is sitting in a cell phone grid. Tremendous technology to say the least. However it's much more expensive now vs then. What else is new?
had that happen a couple times. no clue why. I did read in the manual that if you use the command start 3 times between using the key it will not start again until you use the key.

• The alarm system is triggered. • The feature has been disabled. • The hood is not closed. • Two remote vehicle starts have already been attempted within the lasthour. • The vehicle is not in P (Park).
To keep the engine running for another remote start duration, repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the engine still running. If you programmed the duration to last 10 minutes, the second 10 minutes will begin immediately so that, for example, if the vehicle had been running from the first remote start for five minutes, the engine will continue to run for a total of 15 minutes. You can only extend the remote start once. If the vehicle is remote started then remote stopped, wait at least five seconds before remote starting a second time. The ignition switch must be turned to the on position and then back to the off position or allow one hour to pass before using remote start
