E4OD swap

E4OD swap
So my C6 build didn't go quite as well as hoped. Something came apart in first gear. I don't think it will be a difficult fix and I have another truck to put that in. I want OD and I've weighed my options between the gear vendor and swapping to an OD trans. I want the lockup convertor and as for cost, I think the gear vendor route is actually more expensive. I can get the E4OD with controller and TC for just under $3000. I need to shorten driveshaft and fab a few things, but I think long term this is the best route on wear and tear of my motor and driveline. So, not really trying to get my mind changed. Just wanting input from people that have done it. I've watched a few videos on youtube but I am curious about fitment with headers. Especially the shifter modifications and cooling lines. I've got Dakota digital gauges so I'm assuming there shouldnt be too much difficulty trying to connect the speed sensor with the bauman and the digital gauges. And any other tips to make this work. Thank You!

I'm putting it in a 2WD truck. Where did you get the transmission? I'm having a hard time finding a transmission. I've found a bunch of ones for a 7.3L diesel or small block in the junk yards. Most online suppliers want a VIN for a vehicle that it comes stock in. I was this close to buying a complete truck on craigslist just to get the core and vin so I can buy one.

It is possible to get a 4 speed automatic that does NOT require an electronic controller if you are willing to consider a GM tranny. See TCI Automotive. Not sure if 4th is 1:1 or OD - have queried TCI to find out. The BBF model should work but you really might prefer a 460. The 429/460 was manufactured between 1968 and 1997 for all sorts of cars, trucks, RVs, boats and even static industrial use. They are out there in good quantity. Of course Ford will sell you a brand new race-oriented block if you have the dough on hand.

TXTrailerdaddy if you want to drive to NW OKC I'll give you one. It is in a 92 F250 2wd. Bought it for (and pulled) the 460. Seller said trans had blown fluid from front seal. I trailered it home. Put fluid in it and it drove/shifted fine. Didn't get it hot towing or anything, was really just trying engine out. Put the 460 in a Bronco, sold the flatbed, used the rear leafs on my 92 4wd.

If you need the VIN for same truck let me know. Only reason I can think of they want the VIN - there were some changes to how the trans solenoid pack is controlled by the engine computer. I think the change was around 92-93 but not sure on that. If I remember right the correct soleniod pack can be swapped fairly easilly.

E40D cores are so cheap it's not funny, I pick cores up for 50.00 a piece at the local u pull. That's straight from the core bin no labor on my part. You should be able to find one, the 90's work trucks are prevalent still.
