Shudder while driving

I have a 93 f150, 117k miles, 5.0 aod trans. When I am driving, it seems that when the truck drops below 2k rpms, it shudders and vibrates really bad. Under acceleration it's fine, moving doing 55 , sitting at or around 2k, it's fine, but once it drops into overdrive, it shudders until I really give it some throttle.

Sounds like your TC is failing to me.

Welcome to the forums.

Transmission ever been serviced? No? That is the first thing I would do. Drain trans/TC and fill with Mercon V. Drive it a day and see if it smooths out.
I've tried the fix it in the a bottle stuff, with little notice of improvement.

Worth a shot before diving deeper.

Couple things here.
The 5.0 makes no useful power below about 2000rpm so if the truck has some rediculous rear axle ratio like 3.08 then just don't use OD.. it's not helping performance of fuel milage.
The AOD doesn't have a locking torque converter. 3rd and 4th lockup is accomplished mechanically inside the trans by bypassing the input drive shaft so trans fluid has no effect on this.
Could be the motor is running lean causing a lean stumble, leaks in the air injection system or at the exhaust manifolds will cause this. Also check fuel pressure.

Is it a true AOD or AODE? Push button on the dash? That is right in the time they changed them.

Second on the transmission. Change out the fluid and filter with Mercon V. If that doesn't work and all else fails, I bought a tiny tube of Shudder Fixxx from advanced when I couldn't get mine to stop shuddering and it hasn't shuddered since.

I’m having similar issues. My 92 straight 6 shutters under slight acceleration over 40 mph. Nothing crazy but enough to notice it. Also it will shutter when holding steady around 55-60mph, it all stops if I let completely off the gas for a second. Wondering if changing the fluid will help. Question is, I’m by no means a mechanic but I have no problem learning and taking it apart and putting some components on the truck back together but I’m trying to learn some of the terms....what is the “TC” mentioned in the reply?

OD pushbutton on the dash in a '93? I don't think so. Last year for the pushbutton on the dash was '91. In '93 it would be on the gear shift lever.
