This is looking to be more and more true as the days go by.

Ya just need a 3,000 RPM stall converter and everyone's happy...right?

THAT is what would make the 7.3 impressive.

And it would be nice if it was SMOOTH and QUIET. We traded a 3.5 Ecoboost F150 for a 6.2 with 4.30's. Outputs between the two motors are very similar although the 6.2 needs more RPM. But, the Ecoboost was quiet and smooth at 3,500 RPM where the 6.2 is noisy and thrashy in comparison at the same RPM. Much of the allure of the diesel is the reduction in "drama" on long tows. The 7.3 needs to get part of the way there for it to be desirable.
Indeed... the lack of drama is one of the great appeals of the EcoBoost engines. Unfortunately they are only mated to light duty half-ton trucks. As we’ve accumulated more stuff to take on camping trips, we’ve discovered the limitations of the 150 platform... but we haven’t even come close to the limits of the 3.5 twin turbo. When I next upgrade, I’ll probably be looking for a heavier truck but I hate the choice could be an expensive diesel that’s overkill for my daily needs vs a V8 gasser that needs high RPM to get any work done. I really hope this 7.3 hits the sweet spot, because the 6.2 sure didn’t.

Well one of the publicity shots for the new Tremor package shows the dashboard with the off road modes and hidden in the corner is a tachometer with a 6000 RPM redline indicated. Unless the Tremor is available with the 6.2 (doesn't seem that way in the press release) then that would seem to indicate that the 7.3 likes to rev a bit too.

Good eye! 6k redline and the tach goes to 7500

Notice the DTE? Hopefully that’s from running the **** out of it

I was hoping that Ford would squeak out a tidbit of information for the 4th of July, but it appears not...

Have a great weekend everyone!

You and me, both. Can't believe how close they're holding the cards to their chest and for how long. There's nothing else the competitors have to offer at this point!

I can think of a three reasons why.
1. Not give competition a chance to re-tune
2. Numbers and towing aren't what Ford was hoping for.
3. Ford thinks this is good for marketing.(It actually makes me start reading about Chevy 6.6 gas)

Or:

4: They've never released power numbers this early before. Everything I've read says they'll be in the showrooms "This fall", which means we're at least a few months away from seeing them. I can't recall ever seeing power numbers this early.

I told y'all...Texas state fair. September. MAYBE a little earlier if they want TSF to be ALL about the powerstroke numbers. Doubt it though.

September 27!

The longer the wait they will continue to sell off the 2019s. Then when the numbers come out and order banks open or "floodgates" factories will be running overtime. They're not dumb.
