6.2 Engine knock
What's the update on your truck?
My situation: Bought a brand new 2018 F250 6.2 last year - it had numerous problems Ford couldn't fix (bad door alignment issues, intermittent long crank that even fuel pump/programming didn't fix, repeated water leaks, etc.) Ford replaced it with the 2019 F250 6.2 I am driving now.
The 2019 drove off the lot with a slight tick that varied with RPM (like yours). First few trips to the dealership resulted in "we don't hear it" - Over time it got louder. It finally got so loud at 11k miles that I actually got the dealership service manager to say "wow, that is not right" so it's been in there 2 weeks now. It's a loud ticking sound coming from the engine compartment, possibly on the driver's side (seems louder sitting in the driver's seat) - increases and decreases with RPM. After the first week they told me they have no idea what's making the sound, but they do acknowledge it. They actually said "Take it home and drive it until something breaks" - nope. Not doing that. They actually said "we haven't seen any 6.2's with engine noises" - they obviously don't read these forums.
Regional tech supposed to stop by this week and hear the noise for himself and make recommendations to dealership on how to proceed. Dealership has ruled out exhaust leaks, they are thinking it's internal to the engine at this point but "can't just tear it open to go looking for the issue if Ford doesn't give them the OK" - sounds like their problem, not mine.
I am beyond done with this whole experience. Two brand new F250 6.2 trucks in a row total pieces of **** and gigantic time suck staying on top of dealership and Ford to do something or make it right. I blew a good 6 months dealing with Ford RAV getting my lemon replacement to happen last year. Here we go again...

On cold start or after sitting for a few hours, it is smooth and silent. After it idles down to full-temp idle speed, it immediately starts doing this at random. It is directly related to engine speed, but SEEMS to go away with higher, off-idle RPMs. It sounds to me like it's coming from the center of the big end and it carries all the way down the drive line. Loudest between rear of motor and trans. You can't feel the knock though at all, everything feels as smooth as butter.
(Sorry about the cicadas. The sound is a LOT better on my S9 than my laptop. Oddly, I can't even pick it out using earbuds on my workstation.)

Thoughts? Does yours do this? Could this possibly be related to the CPV / Cannister Purge Valve or is that more of a ticking? Rod knock?
You have to get a lawyer. Don't expect any kind of good customer service from Ford Corporation. Their Corporate manager even told me I should have researched the Trucks problems before buying it!!! Another woman manager told me that my worry about rear doors opening while driving down the highway by themselves could get one of my toddlers killed, and she said exact words "Sir, You are talking about a lot of "what if" situations". I was like, really? Want me to tell you how many people die from what if situations. She had no concern at all.
I loved the style of the F250 so much, I bought a new one, had it built from the factory. 2019 F250 Lariat. LEft rear door leaks water, fills the sill and channel up under it just like the 2017. I called Ford Corporate and notified them about my new Truck leaking water, and nobody has a good fix, and I haven't heard nothing. Ford's quality absolutely sucks. SO many times they don't even have parts because everything is on backorder. Google Ford 250 or F150 doors leak. Great videos out there. Both the F150 and F250 share the same door design and both leak the same.
Its an absolute disgrace and I have been an Avid Ford customer with over 10 new vehicles in last 15 years. They simply do not care.
For the leak that fills the wire channel have your dealer check the rear cab vents to be sure they are installed correct and snapped in all the way. I had water getting into the channel and thought it was the doors. My dealer found the cab vents were not snapped in all the way and letting water in. It would run down the back of cab onto the door sills. Haven't noticed any water since.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Around 180k hard miles I got rid of it. Still ran fine and smooth but you could start feeling the age starting around 150k.
Its a throw away motor, they will probably last 250-300k miles till the truck is totally worn out. Thats the way they design vehicles now days.
On the motor differences 2011 vs the new ones I saw mine had aluminum valve covers and the newer ones had black (maybe plastic).
If it runs fine I wouldnt sweat it. I also had occasional long start issues that would give you a bit of pause.

I didnt care much in my 6.2 but my 6.7 has some minor noise that goes away supposedly if you change oils.
We also had a 2016 3.5 NA F150 and it had such a bad tick/knock I thought it was broke but after research found its common. We beat the crap out of that truck too. Didnt really care too much, but when I sold it I made sure we met in a parking lot next to a construction site and close to the freeway

Run the regular stuff and try that maybe (maybe Ford has some stuff).
