Ford Corporate: "Let's make this easy for the salesman to remember the specs... 505 lb.-ft. of torque for the new 2020 7.3L gas, which is half of the 6.7L PSD at 1,010 lb.-ft."

We might as well learn patience now. My local dealer doesn’t expect any deliveries until after the 1st of the year.
I wish I could have it now, but realistically, I think I’ll order somewhere in January so it’s here by springtime.
Im keeping my 2500HD for winters, so the SD will be a zero winter ride.
Well, I saw my first new style Chebby HD on the lot as I passed. I was glad I had the window open as I cast a wave of vomit over the center line into oncoming traffic. I’d wait until eternity before I’d drive THAT ugly abortion. WHAT in Frankenstein!s name was GM thinking? It is absolutely unreal.

Well, disappointingly no 6.7 numbers today... Wondering now if they’re saving the 6.7 numbers for the Texas State Fair... I think they figure waiting on the power numbers of the 6.7 will have no effect on orders in 2 weeks. Those of us ordering the diesel are going to order the diesel regardless of whether it’s 1005lb ft or 1015lb ft. Also, a little disappointed in the power numbers of the 7.3. 430hp, 475 torque at 4000rpm. It does have a decent torque curve for a gas engine though with 400 torque coming in at 1500rpm...

While they obviously want to leave room for improvement and did beat all other competitors I am a bit underwhelmed.
Torque curve is impressive though. Do think I'll spring for the diesel though. Especially since with the XLs I'm interested in the diesel prices aren't that bad.
And I'm thinking the 450/500 is optimistic. The current 6.2 SOHC is at 385/430. Granted, the new 7.3 has the cubic inches but it's a pushrod OHV and not specifically intended for the Super Duty line. It's directed towards the medium duty trucks. As Ford states, the new 7.3 is designed for efficiency and reliability under constant heavy loads in F-250 through F-750 medium duty trucks. That doesn't necessarily translate into better efficiency in an unloaded Super Duty. Anyways, I'm expecting more grunt but probably minimal more hp so I'm guessing 410/475.
2020 7.3: 430 hp at 5,500 rpm and 475 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm.
I was short on the horsepower but guessed the torque right.

You got to think Mary Barra called down to the Chevy design team and said “boys, butcher one”...
And man, did they ever..

It’s a gasoline based engine, it has compression limitations, and for low RPM, or any RPM, The torque numbers are going to be less than half of the diesel.
It’s a great alternative for fleet buyers looking for simplicity, and those looking for a cheap power plant.they will sell a lot of them, just not to me.
Really not and different than the numbers than what’s in my wife’s Yukon Denali. Runs great by itself, and can tow light loads in impressive fashion, but not even in the same galaxy as a diesel.
As someone else put it, it’s like ordering a Mustang with a V-6.
