Our weather guys acted like Armageddon was coming.... We live in Texas ..give me a break.
It dropped from 70 to around 35 & the wind was blowing. Not pleasant but not bone chilling.
I think it went more to the Southeast. I don't know how Canadians do it.. Chicago looks horrible.
I saw where they lit the train tracks on fire there. I can say I've never seen that.

This is want I got to see at 8:00 this morning after I got my truck running, after jump starting it with my battery charger and then having to disconnect the battery to reset the electronic accelerator control. My ancestors were morons. 200 million square miles and they chose the most God forsaken part of the country to settle in. I can't remember it being this cold since the early '80s. Then my old beater '69 Olds Cutlass was the only in the family that would start and once started we kept it running all day.

I've been driving 37 miles one way to my customers site for the last two weeks in my '04 Dodge with 240K+ miles. It's been a challenge the last two days to get it running in the morning and once before leaving work at night. It doesn't seem to like the sub-zero either. I have gloves, two jackets and a blanket and jumper cables just in case.

I'm in Kentucky where the temps are just slightly higher. I think it got down to about 9 degrees last night. Week-long high has been about 26. But I've noticed something on my farm this week that I've never seen before. Considering the cold temps, the rain has not fallen all week long (except for a couple of small snow squalls that quickly blew through). Nevertheless, we've had SO much rain this past year and this winter that water is still running strong in all of the small creeks and ditches coming out of the hollows and mountains. I've never seen that much running water in persistent single digit temps on my farm.
