Here in northern Ohio they use salt like we use kitty litter to clean up an oil spot. They use so much I jokingly say they are not trying to melt the snow and ice, they are trying to DRY the roads
Morris is tough. He's from Saskatchewan and takes these frigid temps in stride. As some of you may remember, last winter he posted a picture of himself pulling in a load of firewood with his bicycle. I'd re-post it if I knew how. LOL.
Someone really does need to re-post that pic of you on your bike pulling a trailer filled with logs! Then we'd really know how tough our Canadian friends are. That picture of you taking care of the fire wood would be the perfect companion to the one of your wife hanging out the laundry.
I'm sure many more you older country guys can attest to this, but my mother did the wash in a wringer washer in our egg cellar. The egg cellar is where we stored the chicken eggs under the chicken house where they stayed cool. Then when hanging the wash on the clothes lines in the winter our jeans and work pants and shirts would freeze on the line. Then we'd bring them in the house and stand the jeans next to the coal burner cook stove! And she even did this after we had a washer and dryer in the house!

I really wish I could find it but can`t.
Today`s head line:
''This is Saskatoon’s coldest day in 112 years.''
Morris, you posted it 11-27-17 (post 97) in the great "Delete" thread. Bigwin was showing us how he brought in his firewood, and you showed us how real men, like yourself, do it in Saskatchewan. It was classic, just like your laundry picture. Thanks for keeping us entertained.
As I recall from my high school metric conversion class in the 70's, -41 is about where Fahrenheit and Celcius catches up with each other. That's cold in anyone's book, and I really don't know how anything survives that.
I wasn't complaining about the -1 this morning, just saying. Really. The sun was shining today and it hit 25F, so it was a good day. Supposed to be single digits again tonight. Pray that warmer weather comes sooner rather than later. From some of those winter pictures in the 'vintage pics of days gone by' thread, though, I don't think this is anything new or unusual. The record low in my neighborhood for this day was -20.
Hi Morris- I tried, but couldn't do it. I know it's pathetic, but I'm old and limited. I remember when I used to have my office manager print out my e-mails, and I would write out my responses for him to send. I've come a long way, but alas--not far enough!

PS I see Bigwin's skills are much superior to mine and he has come through with the pic. Thanks Kevin.
Cold in se SD, but I really don't mind it. When it gets this stupid cold I have two missions. Make sure a Peterbilt runs every day and keep my elderly St. Bernard comfortable. I will take cold over freezing rain or blowing whiteout snow every single day! Today we are blessed to have cold and blowing snow, we had the freezing rain a couple days ago! Stay safe folks!
