Driver's side window switch backwards

So, when I bought this truck I knew that the driver's side window switch was wonky. It goes down when you press up, and up when you press down. The auto feature is also backwards, in that it will go auto when going up (reverse guillotine)!

I figured it was a bad switch so I bought a new one, but it still does the same thing! WTH?!? Also, the passenger side rear window switch doesn't work, but I can roll it down from the driver's control. Figured a bad switch, right? Nope, put two new switches on it and it STILL doesn't work at the door. Motor is obviously good, because I can still roll it down from the drive's controls (yes, the window lock is off!!). WTH?!?

Sounds like the wires are reversed for the motor.

This happens when the motor housing is assembled 180 degrees off. Here is a generic video on how to fix the issue.

Ford changed the window polarity at the motor on trucks built after 8/9/2005. The fix is easy just swap the wires at the connector near the motor.

Couldn't I just swap the wires at the switch? I just have to figure out which wires go to the driver's side window motor...

YEP..... that will work also.......... just find the two wires that run to the drivers motor.

Yup, you're absolutely correct! I'm going to play with the old switch and see if I can isolate the wires that run the motor for the Driver's window and reverse them. If that's too much of a pain the butt, I'll do what you suggested.

You won't be able to swap wires at the switch without making it a hack job. Take the 3 mins and pull the door panel and get the short harness at the motor swapped.

Ugh! I know you're right. I just hate pulling the door panel off.

I recently changed out a window regulator assembly and the new one(Dorman) came with a wire harness adapter that reversed polarity if needed.

Now there's a plan.
