I just installed a 100 series remote start kit on my 2012 F250. I have changed the settings in the dash screen to allow for remote start, and changed the settings in the BCM to enable remote start as well. I had the key cut and programmed it to the truck with FORScan, and it works fine. However, when I try to remote start the truck, I get one horn honk and two flashes of the parking lights. No attempt to start or anything. I have read that this may be an issue with the hood switch, so I took a look and bent the tab up and made sure it was getting closed by the hood. No errors on the BCM or PCM. I have read this kit should be compatible with these Super Duties, so what gives???
Are there any DTC's stored by the PCM/ECU? If so, it will not remote start. Clear them and try the remote start.
From the 2015 Super Duty Owner's Manual
The remote start system will not work if:
• the ignition is on
• the alarm system is triggered
• you disable the feature
• the hood is open
• the transmission is not in P
• the vehicle battery voltage is too low
• the service engine soon indicator is on.
No DTCs at all. I had to do a PCM relearn to get rid of a P160 code a while ago, but after that I had no remaining DTCs on any module. Battery voltage was fine too.
Edit: Just to clarify, my adapter has both HS and MS-CAN capabilities, and it is not finding any faults on modules with FORScan.
by chance, did you try short across the hood switch connector to see if the switch is the problem? How much fuel is in the tank?
Fixed! Thank you sir. I had opened the hood and cleaned the switch connection and manually held down the switch still no luck. spliced the wires together, and it works!!
