yes, that is the basic remote start for the 2011-2016 trucks. You will need a hood switch if one is not currently installed. You will need the dealer to turn on remote start or use FORScan to turn it on.
That is all you need for the basic remote start. Once you get the IKT key cut, you can program it with your two existing keys after you activate remote start with IDS.
yes, it will be a problem. You need two keys to program a 3rd key. You will need to go to dealer or locksmith to have a second key programmed. Once you have two keys, you can add another key yourself in the future. Locksmith will probably be cheaper than the dealer.
I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is you can program a second key using Forscan... There are a few threads on this in the forscan forum. Something about having to erase all keys first to put the truck in learn mode...
You have to have power windows and power door locks, or the Ford OEM kit doesn't work. I inquired at the local dealership about remote start for my truck and I was told the OEM kit couldn't be installed on mine.

Yep, I have power windows/locks and the hood switch. I also have access to IDS.
Not sure how much of an issue it will be with only 1 factory key. I did find the same remote start kit that has 2 blanks.
So... remote start kit arrived and its installed on the truck. Pretty easy, just drop the glovebox out, plug the harness into the TPM module and zip tie the antenna to the existing holes in the metal dash frame, above the glove box opening. the local Ford dealer cut the new key for free. now I just need to access to my buddies IDS tool, program the key and activate remote start feature.
So, my contact with the IDS flaked out. going to try the ForScan route to program the key and activate remote start. anybody have the superduty spread sheet that shows which lines to modify?
I just did this last week on my '08. I would hazard a guess that it is the same on your '11. There is a thread on the forscan site that has very clear instruction.
Because you only have one original key you have to erase all keys from the truck and then program two good keys. Once you have the two good keys programmed you can do the usual sequence for adding any more keys you have.
That will program the key. There is a separate sequence to get the remote half of the key working.
Sorry I don't know the bits that need changed for the remote. If you search super duty forscan spreadsheet you will find a chart with all the various mods that you can do and the instructions/numbers that need modified to do them.
I recommend that before you make any changes with forscan to save a copy of all the as-built files on your computer or hard drive. This is just cheap insurance in case you ever need to reverse your changes sometime and fix an error.
