I got the job! I got the call at lunch. A dollar an hour more than I make now and an hour closer to the house! I put in my notice and my direct boss was not surprised.
The big Yancey boss will be back tomorrow and wants to talk to me, I know they are going to offer me more money to stay. But it's not really about the money.

My boss wanted to know if i would be happy if I went to work for Yancey in Calhoun, still about an hour.away. I like the idea of working on smaller equipment and being a lot closer to home better.

I can do the transmissions but the checklist of stuff to do is getting longer and longer. It just went from a 60 hour job to an 85 hour job. The regional service manager wants to talk to me today, he was out for a meeting yesterday. He told my boss that he was just looking over my pay and he realized they we not paying me enough. He knew how much I made because he just approved my annual appraisal back in August. They acted funny about giving me a dollar an hour raise back then. It's not about working there or more money, it's smaller equipment and most of all a lot closer to home. The wife is ecstatic, she likes the fact that I will be a lot closer to home and thinks I work way too hard there.

The big boss didn't fire me, not yet anyway. They are throwing a pay increase or positions doing something else not as a tech at me.I reiterated my position about it's not money it's being closer to home.

Why would they fire you? Are you screwing off? Messing things up? If they fire you for giving them notice you are leaving sue them for wrongfull termination. 2 weeks would have been better but a week is better than waiting to Friday when you load your tool box and say I quit.

None of the above.
They have a habit of letting people go on the spot. If you don't want to be here then there is no sense in waiting the 2 weeks. It does make me feel better they are at least trying to keep me.

They offered me a rental coordinator position in Calhoun and they offered me a lead man position too. I have not officially turned them down but the guys on the floor say they court you for a day or so with offers and then when they realize you are still leaving they go ahead and let you go. If they do I can start on Monday for AG-Pro. I'll just come home and get the trailer and go back and get my tools, way too big for just a truck bed. I am good either way. The wife says it's up to me but I know she wants me to take the job in Rome.
