Going to have a few days of warmer (about 70) and no rain weather the next few days. Sadly I am working the next about 10 days getting ready for an inventory in another store,. Not My store!
A positive note: there is only 4 more days to till the weekend.
Almost everyday is weekend for me. Took the Jeep in for first oil change and tire rotation 3 hours later I was finally on my way to pick up the tractor parts they came in. Got everything except bearing for the foward reverse shaft. The tech at the shop thinks the synonizere failed did not think it could be the detent shaft, ball, or spring. I think on of those three is the culprit that caused the internal failure. I ordered tnos 3 seperate they were here when I got home. The spring and ball could be changed with the tractor back together but not the shaft. They need the old parts to send to LS in NC.
The Jeep already has a non critical recall to reprogram the drivetrain module and needs a radio update. The on board oil change indicator is set at 8000 miles, but the sticker says 5k. Talked to a tech at a closer dealer he said 5k. It uses 0-30w oil. I let the oil change go to 8 from now on it be 5. So techs recommend 5 the onboard computer says 8, now if they are done at 8 and the motor takes a dump for lack of lubrication will Jeep cover under warranty or holler abuse?
So did it "jump" out of gear and everything go blewy?
If they do the changes based on the ecm recommendation it should be covered. The reset at change should be stored and dealership records should show the same.
My tractor is not hydrostat I stillhas a clutch the gear shift is 4 gears there is a range selector for low,medium, high. On the dash is the foward reverse lever. So in theory I have 12 forward and 12 reverse. What started happening is it would occisionally jump out of forward. It started to get worse. The last day I drove it I had to hold it i forward. Everytime it jumped out there was some grinding. When we split the tractor there was a snap ring laying on the shaft . On one of the gears that have 3 removeable teeth. (The high tech LS name pieces.) The snap ring is what holds them in.
first thing dealer ask me did I shift from fwd to reverse without stopping ? No that hard on the tractor and me
What I have seen in other transmissions and the reason I asked is the detent ball (spring, guide or other associated parts) did not hold in gear or lock in the gate. Pressure caused it to jump out and that caused the failure. Depending on the type of shifter the pallet fork may be worn and not pushing it fully into the gate. Either way can take the syncs out, wear bearings and shafts because everything is not in the proper place during operation.
Any way just my thoughts based on what I have seen in the past.
That my thought. There is no way to know if the sping is weak. I bought a new spring, ball and detent shaft out of pocket vs warranty. The mechanic at the dealer would not buy of a problem there. I going to send all the old parts including the ones I bought (along with invoice) back to them.

The gears want to naturally walk in or out based on direction forward/reverse and if the spring and ball gate don't hold they will come out. If the shifter fork or pallet fork pads are worn, damaged or not in the right place, the gear will never lock in the gate and the mentioned walk out will happen.
It is great so far. I worked all day and it did not feel like I had been beat up when I got home. Now if I can just get over this cold, feeling a lot better but not over it yet. I use to have a Nissan that would pop out of 5th, ended up changing the synchro and the gear.

LS is tighted lipped on service manuals they want $300.00 for them . The only spec is from the parts manual and that just demenisions. With out a spring test can not find the compreesion strengh. The lever from the dash sis down into a one piece for assymble on the end of the shaft held on by a roll pins there isca little wear but not excessive there was no slop there. I'm thinking it was the spring. Tractor only has 300 hrs.

Glad you like the new job. The cotton pickers and corn cobmines may kick your butt a little. Up there you may not have any. My guess most of your tractors are going to be small like mine. I do not see the big monsters like they use in south Ga up there.
Have they mentioned training class in Augusta. That where the assembly plant is at. ALL tractors under a 100hp is made overseas and put together here.
We have not talked about any training yet. Put another bucket on today by myself and they were impressed. Started doing a service on a skid steer. I think they are trying me out on different things to see how I do. I’m still loving it.
The power went out at the house around 2 pm,it was still out when I left work at 5. I got home and everyone was sitting in the hummer in the driveway. I walked over to the motorhome, fired up the generator, extended the slide and turned on the heat and tv. I told my wife isn’t this much better than sitting in the truck? I guess we were out there for 45 minuets or so before the power came back on. She realizes she needs to learn how to turn it on.
Yes Hugh that is what I do, bounce ideas around. I learned many years ago that the obvious is not always that obvious to some. Doesn't mean or indicate anything about that person. Just they may not have saw the same thing I did.
A good friend, Vietnam Vet, Dr of Pharmacy - high IQ and very good common sense. We were dropping the engine and transaxle out of a Porsche 914. I had most things unhooked, disconnected and ready. we were going to drop the half shafts the next evening an unbolt the engine and lift the body off. When I got there my friend stated he had 3 of the 4 bolts out of the inner CVs but couldn't get them to rotate to get the 4th out. it was on jack stands and tires off the ground. So first thought is it is in gear. NOT! I looked a Pat and let the park brake off! It never occurred to him the brake was set.
With Trans in neutral and tires off the grounds. The brake was obvious to me.
