rod knock? or injector?

2002 7.3, 72k miles.



turbo failed at 72k. found LPOP scored so replaced it. truck makes 55psi oil idle cold, 28psi idle hot.

My phone sucks...so, Cant play videos. Your numbers for oil pressure are consistant with both my rides. One has factory pump, other has melling

Sounds like a dud injector to me. This is where it would be nice to have a breakout box to isolate the bad stick. Saying that, it never hurts to hot-torque the injectors - because you can see the engine run with the covers off, and watch for a problem oil flow from one of the injectors.

I would be very surprised rod knocking with such low mileage, unless you ran it out of oil

I'm in the injector camp as well. I would do a CCT, and pull an oil sample. If the oil sample looks metalic, there's no need to waste postage sending it to the lab.

Break out box would be nice. You could be careful and try to unplug one injector at a time and see if it goes away. If not, then maybe a rod or pin.

welp, ended up being an injector, or at least fuel.

i was on the fuel light when i took the above videos. got progressively worse (could even hear the fuel pump aerating KOEO) but went away entirely when i filled up the tank. suspect i have a broken/clogged pickup tube. guess its time to drop the tank and poke around.
