I have multiple "blinky" lights on my truck All red and clear (In Vermont firefighters have red and clear lights).
The best bang for the buck for rear lighting is Whelen Duo's. I have a pair mounted on a license plate bracket on my truck. Red flashes when needed and the clear overrides the flash and can be used as rear work or back-up lights.
