These trucks are so tall we didn’t put roof lights on our 17’s. Wear used hidden lights in the grill, tail lights, F350 logo on the sides and i put a couple in my tool box in the bed facing backwards. With the light on the roof we figured we wouldn’t be able to fit into most car washes... plus the hidden lights give a much cleaner look. I you feel you must have one on the roof someone does make a light that mounts to the third brake light somehow. Someone else on here might know more. We didn’t go with that style because of the extra height and we didn’t like the the look, its rather large and sticks back over the back of the cab slightly. Just personal preferences.
Thanks I saw the brake light adapter and it is $159.95 just for the mount. A little pricey. I have a dually and can't get in a carwash or my garage. Was looking for a suction mount.
Suction mounts aren't ideal for exterior use. Interior suction mounts are okay. I agree with Snowman...low profile lights are best. Grill, tail lights rocker panels or side badges, headache rack, front window, rear window, etc. Really the only downside is more wiring for the install versus a single light bar. But the overall effect is killer. I've got a ton of lighting on my truck and the average person wouldn't see a single light until I hit the switches.
There is a thread on using computer magnets on the interior of the roof to hold a magnetic mount light or antenna without drilling any holes in the roof - the interior is accessed thru the roof high mount light .
I’ve seen these too but just remember they are not visible from the rear of the truck. They are only visible from the front. I like the idea of these lights and will probably install them on my truck when I get time but you will still have to install some lights that are visible from the rear and sides.

You are correct from car level because of the height but the light is clear 360 degrees so it does throw light backwards...
also, that is the reason I added strobes (LED) in the reverse lights and have backup lights mounted to my hitch. So front and rear are lit up well.
I love that it is very stealthy and you can't tell you are all lit up.
I've got a Whelen MC16MA magnetic mount that I've used on the last 2 trucks. Haven't attempted to stick it to my 2017. Not even sure if it would get under the garage door.
Is there a way to put some kind of barrier between the magnets and the paint so that it would adhere but not scratch paint or clear coat?
I used to put this on the truck in winter only to use during poor visibility so that others could see me, I don't plow with the truck. Depending on cost I may sell this Whelen and consider something like the Atomic option if there were good 360 degree and lower vehicle visibility options.

The 17’s are aluminum, the magnets will not stick unless you put another magnet on the inside of the cab (I think someone else started a previous post on this). The atomic’s are not visible from the rear at all. You can check for yourself if you simply stand behind your truck and see if you can see your existing cab lights. The only way you would see them if you get higher than the top of the cab like on a ladder. I like the look of these lights too but the are not visible unless you are taller that the rear of the cab.

Damn! That never even crossed my mind!
I've got an email in to Whelen to check alternatives.

You can do those lights but you also have to add some hidden lights on the rear in your backup lights or on a tool box if you have one, there are many options out there.
I have the Acari low profile mount on my truck. It' ok not as bulky in person as I thought it looked on websites. My only really issues with it are a)the cost and b)it' is also aluminum so you still have to drill your own holes in it if you wish to mount something to it.
