I have a 2017 STX extra cab with the 2.7. When we bought the truck I thought we were done with towing camping trailers. Wrong. So now I'm needing to see what I can and cant do to get the truck ready to tow. I have the 3.15 gears and would have gone for something different had I known we were going to pull the TT. I have the integrated brake controller installed to to our utility trailer. I just purchased and installed the power tow mirrors. So My ETIS report shows an XL/workhorse package and a medium duty trailer towing option. I cant find any information on these on what they are. I suspect the workhorse PKG is the interior, but what do i get with the medium duty trailer towing package. Thanks Jim
Edit: what is the EQ package 3 also
Not sure about medium duty towing package - would imagine "non-max tow"
Are you looking for a max trailer weight? Unsure of your wheelbase - but you're looking at either 7500 or 7600 lbs conventional towing with that setup (see below)
As with every other 1/2 ton, you will most likely run into a payload limit before towing limit. Check the door jam sticker for payload. That is the max that you can carry in cab, bed AND trailer tongue weight.
As you mentioned, the 2.7 w/ 3.15s isn't the most potent towing setup available - though you might gain some payload being a 4x2
Why never mind MSGT?
The truck does have factory trailer wiring and a hitch though. Thanks for the link. I have been looking for that particular file for quite some time. the wiring for the brake controller was factory installed also. When I had it installed they reflashed the module and I have sway control and all the options available for monitoring the trailer wiring. I'm going to guess the medium duty tow package has the fluid coolers and the larger sway bar. I never even considered the fluid coolers. Now I have to double check.

I have the medium duty towing and I do not have the Trans cooler or the bigger sway bar. Your going to have to do a visual on confirming what you have. The trans cooler is in front of the a/c condenser.
I have the Transmission oil cooler. I verified it by looking up the part number of a hose going into the cooler. Its in front almost center of the radiator though. What is the diameter of the "heavier sway bar". BTW my fuel tank holds 26 gallons. is that part of a tow package?
I just looked at my window sticker and it has 6250 GVWR# package.I'm guessibg thats why I have the transmission cooler.
