I normally just ask if it is an early or late 04 because I am lazy ..... and Mike (m-chan68) probably cringes each time. He put up a very nice post on the THREE variations you can get on an 04. I have the link saved, but as I said, I am lazy. Seems to me that most of the time we are only concerned about the location of the ICP and whether or not they have the weak EGR cooler and dummy plugs (Late 04 to me).

I just bought a cheap 1"1/16 deep well and chop sawed it down until it fit up there with the ratchet attached.
Don't cut it too short the first time, ask me how I know
If it does happen to be oily, consider replacing it with the later build version. It will read about 50 lbs KOEO but it reads normally once started. Later build sensor is better built part.
