Rotella T6 5W-40 in Quarts
Rotella T6 5W-40 in Quarts
So for pretty much as long as I have owned a diesel pickup I have purchased my oil mostly at Walmart(mostly Rotella T6 or Mobil 1) due to price and the availability in quarts so that I could get the right amount(15 qts for my 6.0L and 13 qts for both 6.7L trucks). It seems that Walmart has elected to stop carrying any brand in quart sizes with the exception of Rotella T4 and SuperTech(Walmart brand). I ended up buying 3 bottles of T6 5W-40 at Walmart and stopped at the Ford dealer to purchase 1 quart of Motorcraft 5W-40($9.50/qt). It is becoming a PITA to own this truck....Seems like Amazon is the way to go.....
Buy the 5 qt containers. They have a mark on them for each qt.
optionally, but one container at wally world and a qt container at a auto parts store. That will be cheaper than the parts dept at the dealer.

Well, the only brand I have ever seen in 5 qt containers is Motorcraft and they only carry 10W-30 or 15W-40, and even at that no quart sizes otherwise I just would have considered buying that. On my way to the dealer I stopped at Auto Zone and Advance, neither of those stores had 5W-40 in quarts from any manufacturer.
How in the world is having 3 leftover quarts in the last gallon an issue? Paying $10 for a quart of mismatched oil makes no sense. Buy 4 gallons and save the other 3 qts in the last gallon for the next oil change.

I guess if you're looking for a first world problem, you can find one... LOL Come on Jim... this is all #3 on your list..
Storage? Put it on a shelf. Put the cap back on and no moisture unless your shelf is underwater. Or use it in everything like I do. I run T6 in my Onan genset, JD lawn tractor, snowblower, Polaris General, 2 CanAm Spyders, wood splitter, wood chipper, power washer... oh, and my Ford 6.7. It's rated for each application. Commonality is a great thing. Even if I didn't use it in anything else, it's still priced much better by the gallon so that's the only way I'd buy it though.

Oil is not hygroscopic like brake fluid. Put the lid back on and it’s good to go next oil change.
Watch for the sales online. You can order a 3 pack of gallons from Walmart for CHEAP in the T6 Rotella, but it is pretty often sold out, you just have to watch it. I recently got a fantastic deal on T6 at Napa on sale, reserved online for an additional 10% off, and it was only $13.99 a gallon. I bought every one they had
