Red face Motorcraft syn blend oil

went dto Wally World today to get syn blend 5-20, they don't carry it any more, had to pay 80 extra a quart at the Ford dealer, thought about changing to Valvaline syn blend, I have always run Castrol in all other vehicles that I have owned, but since I have a Perma Cool filter system, can't afford $5 a quart every 5K, other synthetic blends are about the same( Valvoline, Havolin, etc) should I stay w/Motorcraft( what I have run for w years, because of previouse record history) or go with another brand? did not know where to post this so I srtarted here, any ingo would be helpful, thanx

MC is at Autozone stores for ~$1.80/qt, prices seem to vary from region to region, or you might try the new Mobil Clean 5000, that is a steal at ~$1.70/qt for what you get.

I called Wal-Mart's Corperate office today and asked why they quit carrying Motorcraft Oil. They called me back after doing some research and said that Motorcraft made the decision to quit distributing to them.

I went to my local Ford Dealer and was able to by Motorcraft 5-20 Syn Blend for $1.75 qt. I was actually paying more at Wal-Mart, so as long as the dealer keeps selling at that price I'll be happy.

The Clean 5000 is reported to be all groupIII . The Clean 7500 for 2.18 per quart has some pao in it . Walmart has it @ the 240 and Sante Fe store .

I'd call around because Autozones price is 2.59 but if not price shopping , AZ does have it in the back room because they have not made displays yet .

Walmarts out west of Bethany should have both oils now as well but don't forget the Phillips Trop Artic blend . 1.12 @ the Walmarts who carry it or Jim Johnson oil out there in El Reno . They are a Phillips distributor

BTW , in a month the 10w-30 Phillips blend will be available . Right now only the 5w-20 and 5w-30 is made in a groupII/III blend .

Wal-Mart stopped carrying Motorcraft oil and filters because supposedly the dealers were complaining that Wal-Mart was able to buy the oil and filters far below what the dealers were. So instead of just lowering the cost to the dealers, they just cut off Wal-Mart instead.

Back on topic, I've been using the 5w-20 blend in my 95 Ranger 2.3L and I've had no problems since I've started using it. I guess over the long haul it might give me a little bit better fuel economy vs. 5w30, but it is so slight that I can't tell when I calculate my mileage. I'm sure it is probably nothing more than a rebadged oil from another oil company, like how Purolator makes Motorcraft oil filters and Autolite makes Motorcraft plugs and wires.

Motorcraft Oil and Filter Availability

Motorcraft oils and filters are also available at Advance Auto Parts stores. I was just in one the other day ( Weds ) and they carry all the different weights of oil and filters. Just my 2 cents to the thread. Oil price was 1.70 a quart.
