or clearance lights as i remember dad calling them back in the day. had this light kit for a while now, just took that long to get myself to drill holes in the roof. used silicone of course but have yet to have a rain to see for sure if i still have a sealed roof. love the look, real "70's" style, esp with no headliner inside. woud almost mount a spare on the front but not going that far. lol.
I like the look of your cab lights. I've been thinking of doing that to my 2000. I'm a real novice in wiring. I would like to wire to the light switch. Do you have any diagrams or pics of how you wired it?
no diagrams or pictures but its a easy/simple thing to do. each roof light you drill 3 holes for, theres a screw hole front and back and a hole about midway between the two for the wire. the ground connection is made by the front screw. i used the foam gasket as a marking template for the 3 holes. with the lights mounted and the wire poking into the cab i used a blue quick-splice connect to join all 5 wires to 1 sigle wire that runs down the left hand windsheild post behind the plastic trim. finding a wire under the dash for lights can be difficult so i continuted the wire into the engine compartment and tapped into the parking light "hot" lead (with lights on) so that all lights come on together. i got my kit through a harbour freight store. it came with lights, connectors, fuse and even a switch so if you want to turn them off seperately or just have them on with that switch you could. i figured if i didnt want them on for whatever reason i could just take out the fuse. love the look. i did have 1 light not work 2 days after i put them on, but when i went to check things out later it was working again. probapbly a grounding issue. and even with having a foam gasket under each light assy i still did use silicone around each of the 3 holes. dont want to have a water leak. youll also have a headliner to take out and put back in, i took mine out last summer as it was in bad shape and removing it made it look so much better than the ratty fabric hanging down. ive thought about painting it with spray bedliner that putting it back in but just havent bothered, kind of nice if you have a magnet and want to keep receipts or some other small item overhead instead of in the glove box.
no problem, most of your time will be spent with the headliner no doubt, have to take all the trim down that holds it up, grab handle from right side, interior light. i just took a couple of picture and sent them to my flickr account, seems like sometimes they take a while to upload. its not a difficult job, and i really think it adds to the look. think the light kit from harbour freight was only 15 or 20 bucks. i might get a extra kit in case i ever need a lens. the bulbs themselves are the standard side marker/licence plate light bulb. might be able to replace it with a l.e.d. bulb. years ago i had a 88 ranger with a lund visor, it had built in clearance lights, they called it the "moonvisor" it was sharp! guess they dont make it any more, ive looked. think it cost me 250 back in 92 when i bought it and put it on
heres the pics, you can click on them and after the page opens you can click again on the picture and it will zoom in, can even see all my other public pictures on my flickr account. i used to use photobucket but theyve started charging for posting pictures to sites.

yes, i had the light kit for over 6 months, i measured and marked everything good before drilling. dont know that i could do it on a newer truck. so far so good on it being sealed from leakage. have air horns under the hood too.
put l.e.d. bulbs in it today, almost 7bucks per bulb. not sure that i will like it, doesnt seem as bright as the standard bulbs. i'll see what it looks like once it gets a little less bright outside.
