ive been wanting to add cab lights to my 96 f150 for awhile now and am now ready to. I've been reading up on how to do it to super dutys and all but am not sure if its the same for an f150. I plan on buying everything from ford, but the problem is i dont know anything about wiring. does the harness from ford plug into the passenger side kick panel like it does on a super duty? also how hard is it to tie the lights into the wiring harness itself? i appreciate any help
I put the cablights on my f150 a while back, but i did it a little different. I think it was like 25$ from jcwhitney for the lights, wire, and switch (came as package). I did some searching with a test light and couldnt find the marker light wire under the dash (way to many wires) so i went under the hood and i THINK it was brown, but you should be able to find it easily by turning on your marker lights and use a test light around the headlight area. Tomorrow ill go out and see what color and exact location... From there first take down the visors and headliner which is no big deal, just some scews. Be carefull spacing out the lights and re-measure a lot. Its gonna be 3 holes for each light, 2 for screws and one for the hot wire, the lights ground to the cab. When all the lights are mounted you have to get inside and connect all the short wires from the lights all together with one long wire and run it down to the dash. Theres a couple spots to run the wire through the firewall, i used the one down by the pedals. Search around with a flashlight and you should find it. When the wire is through connect it to the marker light wire (one i was blabbin about earlier) see if it works (if not check your connections with test light). Figured you didnt wanna do it this way but i was bored. Good luck whatever you decide on.
i bought a $20 set from Pep Boys. came with 5 teardrop lights, all the wiring etc. i ran the lights pretty much...exactly how u said and they came out great.
