(Useless) LED Headlights and trouble codes

I took a chance last March and installed LED headlight bubs and found out that in the OEM housings are virtually useless with them and went back to some Phillips Chrystal Vision bulbs that aren't bad.

OK, that's the history. Now a question - I had 3 hard code faults and two pending along with a TPMS fault. Has this happened to others as all this went and has stAyed away (October) once I cleared the codes and changed out the bulbs back to standard halogen 1500 or so miles ago.

Other people have have similar issues with cheap hids and leds did the ones you installed have a small driver box by chance. It’s caused by rf interference. I’ve had good luck with the auxbeam NF-S1 h13 they have a functional high beam unlike most others and a good cutoff and pattern and don’t blind other drivers, here is my post from another thread discussing leds and here is a link to the thread

And the other guys have the beamtech versions in their trucks

They have a good cutoff like the halogen bulds as well as a functional high beam unlike a lot of options. There is no ballast they just plug right in. For the price these lights can’t be beat by anything else on the market today that I have been able to find.
Here is the thread in the 2017 forum discussing these lights if you want to read through it.

Interesting. I installed LED headlights in my 2015 with stock housings, and have not had any problems. Granted, you don't get 2 pronounced beams like you do with standard lights, but they are there. Plus more flood type light that helps out on these desolate desert roads. I bought a set from Opt 7.

Let me add a bit ---

The LEDs I used were far from a cheap product, being from Superbright LED, a source that I have used for many replacement bulbs including every lamp on the '31 Ford in my sig. In 8 years, nary a failure or problem. But with that said, the only electronic controller is the MSD ignition box which LEDs don't seem to affect

I just looked at the Superbright site and it appears that they are selling a different looking headlight. Hmmmm

Light beam - the low beam light is great. Good crisp definition with longer projection. The high beam lighting - virtually useless with no better projection then a good halogen with light scatter, If I wanted to see what was in a ditch on either side, they would have been great.

I probably could have lived with just a good set of low LED beams as they were even better then the original Sylvania candle quality bulbs but cannot live with interference continually throwing codes. I just put the Phillips replacements that I had installed when an original Sylvania blew. These at least have a well defined high beam but are not as white. These take out LEDs, IMO, would be a great choice with a better reflector

After this LED experience, wont bother with anything else, especially since I seldom drive at night now due to a night vision eye problem.

If anyone is interested in the take out LEDs, I'll sell them at a much reduced cost - PM me if interested

Gotcha I wasn’t just accuse you of buying a $10 set of lights I just meant that guys had had some issues like you did with the lower priced sets, unfotrtenualy it doesn’t matter sometimes if you spend $100 or $20. I had a set that was over a 100 bucks and was junk usless high beam a tons of rf interference and not a great beam pattern on low so I know where your coming from they left a bad taste in my mouth for about a year. The new lights that super bright sells are the same as the lights I have now just branded differently so they have made a change for the better.

Not a problem. I was on my way out yesterday and my wife finally said "let's go" and I didn't put enough info in the OP

Not hijacking, just chiming in...I installed a set of xenon depot lights (bulbs) a year ago and couldn't be happier. They have to be clocked correctly in the socket, but they are WAY better than the factory bulbs. I also installed a set of their bulbs in the fogs. Google them. Well worth it!
