LED Headlights

After spending some time driving the back roads with the use of my LED aftermarket lights and light bar that are attached to my grille guard I have become much more aware of the poor lighting of the OEM headlights ability to provide safe lighting.

I have watched this manufacture for the release of their product which is a direct plug n play installation but haven't come across any reviews.

Is anyone running these?

If so what is your personal opinion?

I have read some post that say to stick with your OEM supplied bulbs doe to the reflective optics of the housing being designed for such bulbs and the installation of LED bulbs are not truly compatible and as such do not throw a beam but rather display scattered light.

Here's what I posted about mine not long ago. As for the scattered light my beam pattern was very similar to halogen on low beam correct placement of the light in the housing is very important. Mine were the older version of their lights though. They are really bright right in front of the truck and it makes it hard to see down road which isn't bad on low.

And none of them are actually legal to use on the road even the ones like my lifetime led bulbs that said they were dot approved on their website but there is no dot number. Everyone that makes them has concentrated on making them so bright and not enough on the beam pattern. They are so bright infront of the truck and the down road and pretty much washed out for lack of a better term down road which isn't very good and the high beams are completely useless. And mine were positioned in the housings correctly which is very important and aimed properly as well. There is another member on here with an 08 but his is an xl model and I think it's ge that makes a replacement for the sealed beam housing that is awesome. The best thing you can do is either have projectors retrofitted into stock headlight housings and use hids which need to be in a projector housing or just get some sliver star ultras or equivalent from ge or Phillips and just live with it till someone comes up with a better led solution.

As far as light scatter goes I've had HID's in halogen housings followed by LED's and the LED's offer the same light pattern as the halogen bulbs, just much brighter. Be sure to get a high wattage and high LM rating. Also the LED's listed above are way more $$ than they need to be, not to mention the fans are old tech. There are now cooling straps which makes fitment much easier.

I've heard great things about the LifetimeLEDs. You might want to check out this thread too. There's a group buy going on for the fog lights.
