So on my 96 7.3 I had my tune get custom burned and now 3rd gear shifts way to hard. Now my tranny was already rebuilt about 60k ago and with a shift kit. So I took apart the 2-3 accumulator valve to see if I could remove some of the shims that some kits have to stiffen the shift. But mine must not had shims because there was none. Now befor when my 3rd gear shifted nicer it would some times shift in 2 stages as if the valve was sticking. So I took a look at the bore and saw some scoring so I don’t think the shop the rebuilt it before I owned it didn’t clean the bores. So what’s a good kit to install that would have a way of cleaning that bore or just buy a remanded body ? I know of a good tranny shop that rebuilds them but they work the same hours as me 😩
If the shift was ok to your liking before the tune, it's just a higher line pressure issue. I don't think you going to be able tune the accumulator enough to soften the shift. Need to tune the line press.
Yeah they increased the line pressure too high only in 3rd the other gears shift fine. And if I install springs that were made for a soft shift like factory shift then I think it’ll atleast help. It dosnt take my much time to take apart the valve body. And yep Iv seen those buuuut haven’t wanted to spend the money on one and I’m not sure how it’ll play with a tune on my truck
Hey guys update. I fixed the shifting issue . So what was going on was whenever this shift kit was installed they installed the calibration plate on the bottom of the valve body causing oil to be leaking out and the epc had way higher pressure to compensate. Took it out and bolted everything back together and pow truck shifts great
