OBS Carpet Kits

My truck is a 97 7.3 4WD F250 CCSB. Carpeting is shot (muratic acid bottle leaked) and has to be replaced. I'm looking for feedback, suggestions, recommendations from anyone that has installed one of the aftermarket kits in their OBS from RockAuto, LMC, etc. Quality? Fitment? Price? Durability? Ordering info? Did you order it with the pad or install without? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

I just replaced my carpet in the fall in my '95 SuperCab longbed F150. I used the ACC kit from Rockauto. I've used ACC before on another project and was satisfied. The carpet in my F150 fits pretty good, but not quite as good as factory. I'd say it's 95%. Overall I'm very satisfied with it. It's definitely much better than the carpet from LMC that a friend of mine put in his '86 F150. Mine is the heavy mass backed carpet, his carpet from LMC felt like a piece of cloth compared to mine.

Definitely get the mass backed carpet, with the jute padding. It will be a little more difficult to install, but much more durable in the long run. Also quieter as there is more insulation.

Thanks for that. Is the carpeting glued in or is it just secured around the perimeter by the interior moldings and panels? Were slots and holes pre-cut for seat belts, seats, shifter etc or is that a DIY thing? Thanks again for your help.

For the most part, the interior trim and seats secure it. ACC says that glue isn't necessary, but I like to do a light tack coat just to help get things into place. These trucks have pretty flat floors, so not much is needed. The permatex orange can headliner and carpet adhesive is the best one I've used yet. The holes and slots are not pre cut, you can use your existing carpet as a template if you still have it. I threw mine away before I got the new carpet, so I just had to measure. Also, they give you a lot of extra material on the front, so you'll have to cut the edge and tuck it up under the dash so it fits. ACC is a pretty good aftermarket carpet manufacturer, I've been pretty satisfied with their products. Any other questions, just ask or PM me, I've done several carpets.

A friend and I put an ACC vinyl floor in an '87 recently. I wouldn't volunteer to install another one, but it looks reasonable for what it is and should be practical for a truck that gets used. Looks like peanut brittle (I got tan to match the seat). Nothing is cut or marked, molding is approximate, and the pad they give you to put under it isn't much to write home about. Not too bad of an install, though, once we figured out where it was supposed to sit and trimmed enough for it to fit into place. It ended up fitting alright but it's got some wrinkles that could've been avoided with better molding. It's also got a custom trim plate covering where I screwed up and cut a hole in the wrong place. Start at the back of the cab and work forward, it's easier to line up back there and you'll get a better idea of where stuff needs to be! Like 95fiveoh said, there's some extra material up front, which is fun to work with around the dash and steering wheel.

I didn't glue anything except the pads underneath, which I didn't trust to stay put. The pad they included didn't cover much, so I ended up laying some house flooring underlayment stuff elsewhere to hopefully cut down on noise.
