They don't know ODOT very well do they? In Roseburg at an I-5 Entrance we once had to direct traffic for 14 hours while we waited for ODOT to get a simple fuse to fix the traffic lights. Some of that got so bad that I was actually permanently issued a key for the traffic light control boxes so I could switch them to a flash mode, turn them off or (on the newer ones) actually take control and run them manually. The ODOT electricians that had to work on them or change the light bulbs were 110 miles south in Medford. The spare parts were in the warehouse in Bend. Bend wouldn't send the spare parts until the electricians ordered them and the electricians wouldn't come to Roseburg if the parts weren't there to fix them with....
In the days of long ago when some old traffic lights were replaced with some brand new fancy lights they were a constant and continuous problem on warm days and were subject to heat failure. A young guy in a uniform gained fame and glory, but no fortune by running up the street from the Cop shop one day, and quoting the News Register, "With the expertise that went with the Sergeant Stripes on his sleeves, he doubled up his fist and landed a well placed blow on the door of the control box. There was a clunk inside and the lights began to work...". One of these days I'll have to take that clipping out of the scrap book, scan it in and send it to you. The article goes on to be very complimentary to the City and ODOT for spending all the money on the lights that had so many failure problems. I didn't even know anyone from the news paper was around. I caught &*^% around the cop shop for years over that.
They really need to make assignments like that a rotational thing. Folks get attached to projects, but in a politically charged atmosphere they can become detrimental to mental well being and careers.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Getting ready to take off for an OASR meeting at ODFW HQ in Salem. Trying to work on getting my excitement level from 1 up to at least 3. Doesn't seem to be working.

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Made it home from Salem just in time for the Christmas Parade. Looks like the kids in the parade had a good time and the firemen got to play with the lights and siren!

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. It's been hung up at 38.5 for a while although it has climbed out of the basement from 37. Wet and raining now.
