I'm sure Ford debated this but it would have been easier if they had made the switch on the dash to work just the opposite with the Automatic Start/Stop normally off instead of on.

Or a simple toggle switch would be nice too. On/off kind of thing.
I've got a 2018 Platinum F-150 and have been reviewing options to disable the Auto Start/Stop feature. I don't want to do the wire behind the switch or the Forescan option yet and have been reviewing the video below for the option that I thought I would try. The issue is, I bought the exact trailer connector adapter and it didn't work for me. After plugging it in to the rear bumper plugin it didn't work. Has anyone else with a 2018 tried this? What may I be doing wrong?

Did your truck see a trailer connected? If not, then the plug isn't all the way in, or there's something wrong with it (or possibly your truck's sensors).
I'd do that but the computor screen would show I used my truck to "tow" 100% of its life....Not planning on explaining that to a potential buyer someday...

Yes it did.

I haven't thought about that. I didn't know it would do that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I guess I'll do the switch mod.
You can't take everything literal with certain posts. I think the comment that "most people, by far, do not want the Auto stop/start feature in it's current form, in their truck" would be a correct statement. No need to be silly about someone saying "no one wants". I don't use it, just push the button every time, it's muscle memory now, don't give it a second thought.

You are correct. I believe that if the Auto Start/Stop switch work the other way there would still be some that didn't like it. It's been a common thought that people in general do not like change. There are those that adjust to change fairly easily and those that will always be a critic of change.
I only don't care for the Auto Start/Stop feature because I live in a small town and have not realized a negligible benefit of the Auto Start/Stop. I'm sure the Ford Engineers have considered the wear factor with the system and how hard it may be on the starter and other components but I'm going to leave it at that and just turn it off every time I get in the truck.
Shortride, that's what currently do. At 73 I forget every so often. One reason I do it is starter life. There will be a price to pay someday brown the road. The 2018 starter really spins fast so I'm guessing it's quite a few $$$$. Not like a rebuilt on for a 72 360 which is $24.
You can do it through Forscan. It won't void your warranty. Any changes you make via Forscan will be over written if the dealer has to reflash you BCM for any reason, so write the values you change down for reference somewhere.
BCM module - 726-48-02 / x0xx/xxxx/xxxx) for 'auto start/stop'
Today I finally had the time to disable the auto start stop feature on my truck. I used Forscan and the BCM module numbers listed on your post. Everything went well it was very easy to do. Now I don't have to be annoyed by the auto stop .
Thanks for the information
engine stop start. pigtail a four flat connector under the bumper, use some magnetic towing lights and put them by the frame rails or wherever. paint the lens black. your truck thinks you have a trailer hooked up and no more stop start.
And if you have them, no more backup sensors either! They're disabled when you have a trailer connected.
