Hello gents,
I have a 2016 Platinum, I recently got dinged by a rock, cracked the windshield almost all the way across. I've been quoted ~$320.00 to replace the glass, but they also "recommend" camera recalibration at an additional $300.00.....anyone with the Lane Change Assist have a windshield replaced? If so, was a calibration necessary?
I just had my windshield replaced two weeks ago, I was told it only needs to be re-calibrated if it does not seem to be working correctly. So far it seems to be OK, I only use the notification mode though. I don't think I need a re-calibration.
I'm on my 4th windshield (this truck is a magnet for rocks for some reason) and it has only been Safelite that promotes the camera recalibration BS, which is why I will not reuse them.

If your Platinum has a windshield with the wiper rain sensor you might want to recheck that price again. I just got a quote for my 2017 Platinum windshield replacement and it was $565.00.

It's about $300-350 for aftermarket glass. $500+ for factory Glass.

We have not typically had issues with rocks on windshields. However, about 20 years ago, we had a Contour SVT that got hit several times. Why some vehicles, and not others? IDK. Another mystery of the universe.

I know right?
I have had 3 Superdutys with a combined 600,000 miles and not one windshield. Plus various other vehicles since 1994.
This truck is getting it's butt kicked with rocks and gravel for some reason. Along with the windshield a ton of rock chips in the paint.
Gotta wonder what it is about the aerodynamics that causes that because I certainly haven't changed the way I drive or where I drive.
I have a 2016 F150 Platinum with all the bells and whistles and I have scratches all across my glass from my wiper blades. Going to see about having it polished / polishing it but I'm worried I may end up having to replace it.
The scratches are bad enough that driving towards the sun in the morning or the evening it can be harder than it should be to see .
